Venture capital investment syndicates have grown exponentially in the past year. They are a great way to index early-stage private investments and invest at 0% management fee alongside tier 1 institutional VC funds. Above is a link to Chaos Ventures, one of the most active syndicates on AngelList. There are several other quality syndicates as well. There is no commitment to join these syndicates. You simply sign up and invest on a deal by deal basis.
Contact your Union rep and whomever is in charge of your "sick leave" bank, because you will probably not have enough sick dsys to cover leave. Get your plan together, and then let your principal know. Good administrators will work around the distruption in the classroom, Great administrators will work with you to help everyone (you, your students, parents etc) create an awesome experience.
Congratulations!!! It isn’t the first time that happened to a principal and they will be very supportive. Let them know but also talk with your personnel department to go over how leave works.
If you have what it takes (as a teacher) and your principal is a 21st century school leader, you have nothing to worry about. Be straight forward, honest and professional.
Thanks for the advice!
Actually, you may not have planned this new edition but mid-June is a great due date! You’ll be able to spend your summer vaycay time with them and not lose sick days! 👏🏼🙌🏼 My last child was unplanned and came the middle of December. June is definitely better. My first baby came then. 😊
Congratulations! That is wonderful news! I would tell your principal in a very professional manner that you are expecting. A little more detail is needed... what would be your plan for maternity leave?
Thank you! I know a baby is a wonderful new addition but he/she definitely was not part of the plan in my first year so I’m still working through that initial stress of worrying about how I’ll be seen and how baby will affect me professionally. Since I’ll be due in June, ideally I could take the whole first semester off but, at least the first term (mid-aug to mid-oct).
Congrats! It happens LOL. Great timing, though :). Very common. It will work out!
