What are some exit options for litigators that aren’t connection-driven? I think we all know the standard set of options (fed govt, in house, lobbying, govt relations), but in litigation those jobs are VERY often filled through networks. What’s out there where a litigator is competitive and where a good portion of positions are filled based on just strength of resume and interview? Question is for all jobs, not just litigation and not just legal.
Sounds on the high end of normal, low end of heavy workload. For perspective, what's your minimum requirement?
We don’t have a minimum target for bonus. Although, I think the unstated expectation is 2000 hours.
One reason I’m asking is because I’ve been thinking of whether or not a move would be helpful, but I worry that I’d just move to another firm with similar hours. FYI - generally, would want to stay in big law.
Sounds high, but RE has been so busy that I can’t imagine finding a spot with less than 2,100 if you stay in the same practice area. Maybe speak with a recruiter about discretionary bonus perks?
There seems to be a huge demand for RE mid-levels.
Thanks! Agree that seems like RE has been busy across the board. Good idea to check in discretionary bonuses.
These hours are incredibly high (compared to Canada biglaw perspective). How do you stay sane?
All my friends in banking and consulting all work similar hours (in NYC at least) so it doesn’t seem that egregious given the compensation. But NY is objectively not a comfortable place to live or work.
Mate that’s pretty high (coming from a fellow biglaw junior, though am in PF). Make sure you’re staying sane and healthy!
