If you feel that way about your colleagues, I’d be hesitant to recommend going anywhere else. It’s all about the people and it sounds like you hit the lottery in that regard.

Well darn. That is exactly what I keep telling myself. They are literally the most amazing mentors and colleagues

Depends on the in-house organization. There is a prevailing myth that in-house gigs are less work hours than firms. That’s not true for every organization. And billable hours still exist at some in-house set ups. Also, years of experience will lead to different starting points. For example, the org I work at is very structured in their positions. To qualify for an Associate in-house role, you need two years or less (ie entry). For an Attorney role, four years are required. Senior is 7+ years. Your pay scale can be drastically influenced depending on years of experience.

Following because in the exact same position in NY right now.

Hi ladies! Need some advice on what to do here: For context: I live in Texas and work from home. I put in a request with my apartment to fix the ongoing air issues in my master bedroom. The maintenance guy showed up without a mask. When I asked if he could please put on a mask, he left, returned and stated that they are still waiting on masks and isn’t sure of when they’ll be getting them. (Cont. in comments)

My professional life at the moment is far from ideal. I’ve been on quarantine (long story, but a good one) for the last seven years. Royalties from my books don’t pay the bills. My entrepreneurial pursuits remain hampered. For the interim, I’ve been looking for a remote opportunity where I can leverage my skills in marketing, sales, social media, and elsewhere for a decent sum. I have a social media presence which, in recent years, reached millions. There has to be something exciting I can do.

Let's say I'm a SME in a certain skillset and could do an analyst's 40 hour/week job in 5-10 hours. Would my current employer be able to find out if I took a remote analyst-level contract in my skillset and nobody from that job reached out to my current employer? Though now that I'm typing this out it's going to be awkward working that out with a prospective employer...

If you could ask for anything at your firm - what would you ask for? Caveat: something that is a stretch but realistic. Background: There is some current turmoil and I have been identified as someone they want to stay through it and wait for it to get better. We don’t have many females at the top. I don’t qualify for equity based on current metrics but the metrics used have lots of room for improvement and the current metrics could be “ignored” for me potentially. (Cont)
