Looking for topcoat recommendations
Hi Fishes,
Can anyone tell me how many rounds of interview are there in JPMorgan Chase & Co?
I had only 1 round as of now, it was with the Process head VP along with the person I will be reporting (if got selected)
It's been almost 4 days since I had that interview; however, no feedback has been shared with me.
I can see that my profile/application is under review for basic requirements.
Should I consider my profile as reject?
Any thoughts/guidance would be highly appreciated.
Thank you
Most people might have a hard time saying this, but painted nails are automatically associated with being feminine and is a feminine look (At least by millennials and up). Totally Not judging you at all or saying that’s you, but guaranteed that’s how your going to be perceived by 99% of people looking at you as a man with your nails painted. Especially in the business world.
I think there are two main points here.
1. Will you be judged for wearing nail polish in your specific situation?
Yeah, most likely depending on where you live and who you work with (amongst other variables) the baseline will be that you will be judged in some capacity by your peers.
2. Should you wear nail polish in the work place, at home, going out etc. ?
There really shouldn’t be any problem with this… you’re not causing any harm to anyone, whether you’re looking for attention or not doesn’t really matter. This is a choice you have to own, if it empowers you then that’s awesome, but maybe it’ll cause off hand comments, or judgmental views from others that might impact your mental.
————
You’ll have to make the choice on your own based on your environment and be willing to take the risks associated with said choice.
Is that necessarily fair? No, but maybe you’ll inspire a fashion trend and bring everyone else along with you… or maybe this is temporary and you’ll do this for 3 months and never think about it again.

I have two daughters, and I’ve had my nails painted probably 30 different colors over the years and I’ve worn them all to the office. If anyone says “ummm soooo you paint your nails huh?” I say “yeah my five year old daughter painted this hand and my 7 year old daughter painted this one. Which one do you like better?”
Honestly, people need to get a life and stop being so pretentious and worrying about other people. It’s makes my kids happy to do it and they are proud I don’t shy away and actually wear them in public. Anyone has a problem they can piss right off. 🤷🏼♂️

Well I’m bald, so no, they don’t put ponytails and braids in my hair. I have about 50 pairs of crazy socks though they do pick out, they don’t really care what combo of dress pants and shirts I wear though.
I think I’m more surprised by the hangups people have about this? Are you lacking so much enjoyment in life you need to obsess on others people’s lives? That’s mostly the reason I do let the kids paint my nails and pick out crazy socks, because they aren’t miserable bastards who suck joy out of all things fun 🤷🏼♂️
You’re interviewing for a director position, with everything else the same, do you think they’re choosing the painted nail guy or the other? Everyone saying just do you are not being realistic. Maybe they prefer to have an edge over you. Just keeping it real.
Don’t keep it real! Play into the delusion that we will always mask our real feelings and discomfort in the guise of inclusivity.
can’t speak for how it’s perceived professionally but as a 25 year old woman, I find straight guys with painted nails Big Dick Energy. Instantly attracted. It means you’re comfortable enough with your sexuality that you can play with it. It is, and I can not stress this enough, very hot.
It’s weird how much you guys are pushing the sexuality aspect. I could care less what gender any of my coworkers or clients have sex with. That’s not my business and frankly it never crosses my mind. As long as the colors and appearance isn’t obnoxious or distracting no one should care. Dress how you want, wear your make up nail polish etc. just don’t be overtly eccentric for the sake of attention and no one will care. We all have a job to do, and your fingernails are not my priority or my business to tell you how they should look.

Like what color? and how straight are we talking?
F here, painted nails on anyone is cool. I personally steer away from warmer colors but love a neutral, clear, and cooler shades

Painting nails is kinda sus bruh
so is this comment

I'm a straight-acting gay male who would like to paint his nails. I keep it to my toes. If there were more guys like you I'd feel more comfortable being able to be me at work.
M2 I use BB cream when going out or on dates. First time I ever used it, I got complimented on my skin.
Many straight guys use it, and it’s pretty common in the “self improvement community”
I’m a straight professional male who paints his nails. It looks good and it’s a fun way of expressing oneself. Nobody in my office cares or has said anything, and if they talk behind my back I genuinely couldn’t care less. A lot of casual sexism in here fr
D4, you have one big client? That’s great. I think it’s hard for people to comment here when we don’t know the dynamic. I am not close-minded but the dynamic for my work is different. We might meet with 10 different client groups or more in a week. I personally don’t care if you paint your nails and wouldn’t think anything of it if they weren’t chipped or unsightly but the reason I use a Dior pinkish clear coat is because I know I would be embarrassed if my nails were chipped for a meeting (or anything else) and I didn’t have time to get them fixed. They’re a high maintenance thing and a lot of meetings are first impressions.
In my opinion, this is exactly why accountants should have continued wearing suits. You can say what you want, but this is the slippery slope that was so concerning in the late 90s. Accountants were historically very well respected, loyal, and conservative in all manners. The profession is in a free fall right now with employees who have no respect for the job and leadership with twisted priorities. This was not a profession for the masses. It was for those willing to live by high standards of professionalism and willing to make the sacrifices necessary to be at the top of the profession on a daily basis.
You do you, but don’t expect others to accept you and don’t expect your clients or coworkers to view you as anything other than the guy who paints his nails.
Don't you know? Women are only earning MBAs and joining accounting firms to find husbands! (Literally something that a colleague at my last job SAID OUT LOUD)
Men painting their nails is not normal behavior. I would take it as a sign of untreated mental illness, or perhaps an outward expression of a failing marriage. I’d likely think of it as an inability to handle stress professionally.
I would not call it mental illness but definitely a little cuckoo. Would feel the same if a woman said I like to grow a mustache, beard and chest hair and show up to work. If you want to be the odd person out so be it. I don't really care. But then also be prepared to face atleast some backlash. People won't say it to ur face but will definitely say things behind your back.
Honestly, these are the barriers that need to be broken. Why is it not ok? Do it and it shouldn't matter your gender, if your straight, married, or any other statistic. If anything it shows workers, customers, prospects that it's o.k. to be YOU.

Why is it not okay? It’s up to the client to answer that.
You do you! Who cares what anyone thinks.
For anyone saying it’s unprofessional, would a trans man or woman be unprofessional? And I’m not saying that’s what painting your nails are, at all. Just making a point.
RSM1 - no we shouldn’t care what the client thinks. What if the client says they don’t like gay people, do we change their team? What’s next?
Clients, intelligent clients, want to best team possible.
I’m glad I don’t work for you. Or really, that you don’t work for me.
Be you and who cares. Any hiring manager that makes a decision on a candidate based on the candidate’s nail colour is a joke and definitely not a leader you want to be working for. Frankly it is sad that you have to even question yourself about this choice. Hopefully you continue to be you and don’t let a few morons change your mindset!
Consultant 6: no one is talking about flip flops in certain environments. They are talking about clothing/dress that is considered appropriate for one gender but not for all. Stop making up a situation that is completely different and then pretending it’s the same.

Wow just got back from PTO and see this thing is almost at 600 comments 😂😂😂
Have not read all the comments, (not even close), but from skimming, here’s a few follow up thoughts:
1. Thanks for all the support from people! I think it’s rad.
2. I saw some people asking why I would want to paint my nails - the answer is I think it looks cool, that’s really all.
3. I saw comments from people saying it’s unprofessional and wouldn’t hire someone like that. That’s totally fair. You can set whatever culture you want at your company. Truthfully, I wouldn’t want to work at/for a company/manager that cared what color my nails were/were not painted. I love remote work and hated dressing up and going into an office. I just work to earn a paycheck so I can pursue my hobbies and support my family, so I am not too concerned with limiting my options as a million dollar C suite exec in the future. I think I’m generally a likeable guy and I am pretty good at doing my job. If my painted nails bother you, then your open position is probably not a good culture fit for me anyway.
Respectfully,
OP
I’d hire you based on this respectful but firm response alone!
It's disheartening to see such homophobic and transphobic comments that are citing mental health issues here. It's highly discriminatory and unprofessional, and if these commenters behave this way in the workplace, they should be prepared for future interactions with HR. OP, as you can see by these comments, the unfortunate reality is that people will judge you professionally, and I think that's unfair. You should have the freedom to express yourself without judgement. Painting your nails does zero harm to anyone else and if I were to interact with you professionally, I personally wouldn't judge and would even admire you for breaking that stereotype. I think you should do what makes you happy and try not to take what others say in response personally.
PwC18 you and the taxman are some of the only level-headed and rational people in this whole thread. The amount of postmodern drivel about “cis-normality, transphobia, gender identity” blah blah blah coming from your typical corporate progressive types is exhausting.
Honestly, I think men cross-dressing or wearing nail polish are degrading themselves, whether they realize it or not. It’s not an image that instinctively projects confidence, strength or competence.
I’m an old tax partner, and have no issue with this.
I feel like you need a lot of attention and depending on your position this could be a plus or a minus — but I’m fairly certain it doesn’t just show up via nail color.

PM1, Then worth circling back😅
After painting my nails rainbow colors for Pride, I went through a round of interviews at a strategy consulting firm and received an offer. So it's clearly not the career suicide many people here are claiming.
This post has too many responses

I’ve always felt my best in a wrestling outfit, how many support this look?
No, that is not acceptable (in most environments). But here is the issue: that is not appropriate for men, women, or non-binary people in most offices. What we need to get away from is saying something is acceptable for men but not women or vice versa.
If you’re in America, do whatever you want if you’re a man, just like you always have. Anyone say anything about your painted nails, call them transphobic, woke society will be on your side and you keep doing what you want.
Kid: Mom! I’m hungry!
D2 (probably): shut up! There was a mass shooting today.
My thoughts - you do you. I personally wouldn’t give it a second thought.
Agree with you PwC. I wouldn’t care. I love the confidence. I’d hire him.
