I’m a 4 year attorney working in a small boutique firm doing immigration and PI litigation. My salary is fixed with no commission. Thinking of negotiating about commission but not sure what percentage is reasonable. The partners once mentioned they want to make me a “junior partner.” We didn’t go into details but I think they want me to also put money in and take cuts. Plaintiff side question - comp is base plus % of fees. Firm has non equity split % with associate working on case. This normal for a non equity partner? Normal associate comp is full % when working with an equity partner.
