Absolutely interview with the big firm. Never reject yourself from a job without interviewing. Interviews are as much about you learning about them as it is about them learning about you. See if they will be a good fit in more ways than just a salary bump then evaluate whether you should stay at your current firm.

Do you feel like you have a handle on your time management issues? It obviously depends on the firm, but i don’t know that you would receive the same grace as a 4th year lateral into a larger law firm. That would be my main concern in starting over somewhere!

When you say larger firm, are you indicating a move from mid size law firm to big law?

Yes. I’ll edit the post to be more clear on that.

I would interview with the larger firm, if only for the practice. You can always go from biglaw to smaller firms, but much harder vice versa. Biglaw firm is definitely not going to be easy and is not going to tolerate these kinds of issues for too long, but they’re also not going to give you less than a year or so, which could be long enough to get you much better exit options, especially if you can actually get a handle on these issues and make the new firm a fresh start effectively. It sounds like you have a lot of positives at the current place, so keep all that in mind, interview doesn’t mean you will be offered or have to take the biglaw job.

Obviously you have to do what is right for you and your family salary wise. But if salary isn't an issue, it sounds like your current firm is investing in you in more ways than just on the job legal training. They sound like they want you to succeed. If you are still working on your tm skills, you'll be more at risk once moving to a big firm.

Definitely interview! Find out if you have a bad rep at the current firm. Those are hard to recover from no matter what you do.
