I’m a 5th year associate and decided to stop taking a paycheck this year for a larger percentage of fees. I’m in a firm that gets a lot of high fee cases but has just 2 attorneys. I have about 20 good nursing home cases and am working out the contract. I don’t think I should pay more than 20% overhead with 40% fees on my cases considering Firm gets 100% of owner cases and 60% of mine. Granted, 99% of my cases came from Firm/Boss. I’ve made about $80K so far . Thoughts? Am I asking too much?

I also contribute a lot of time to the firm for things not related to my cases

How much are you projected to make annually with this set up, give and take? If you’ve made 80k so far and it’s the end of June, are you expecting an annual 160,000? Id ask for more TBH

This year, annual projection is looking like about $200K

What’s the firms actual overhead number? I’d find that out and then do the math for your share.

Thanks. I’ve asked for a breakdown!

As an attorney you should have known to iron out these details before foregoing a salary in favor of fee collection.

Fair. I’ve been happy with fees paid to this point & have benefitted from my boss dragging his feet because he’s foregone my contribution to overhead while I’ve waited to get it ironed out but it could’ve gone the other way and now it’s an issue. I knew better and should’ve insisted on it sooner but I am now and have no idea what to really ask for honestly

With a potential recession, I don’t know if pursuing a new role would help.

Hi, I am an expat living in France and working as an IT consultant. I got an experience here that recruiters insist on disclosing my current salary. Is it a norm in France? Do you reply how much you earn? To me it seems absolutely inappropriate and irrelevant. I can respond what are my future salary expectations. I refuse to tell how much I make now, and then recruiters say that they can't proceed with my application without this information. WDYT?

When an organization is not adequately staffed, be sure increase the number of meetings to address how to allocate people. Forcing negotiations at multiple org levels around the same decisions will ensure everyone is totally aligned.

This accomplishes three things:
1) Everyone is mad at each other since they’re competing for people
2) They’re confused and not able to pay attention to the root issue of chronic under staffing
3) They’re distracted from blaming mgmt for the root cause.

I've been a dental assistant for 11 years , and I think I'm done . I feel the pay is never enough and 9/10 we do the most work in the office . Things to do in Barcelona in April

Working in a large health system as a quality professional WFH. I rarely see anyone else on my team, and when I do present findings I see no changes happening. Maybe they’re happening and I just don’t have a role in that oversight but the motivation to keep going is whittling down to nothing. I’ve been in healthcare for years but graduated with a masters in last two years and was hoping for something different. I have been applying to so many jobs and not many calls back. Any advice ?

AITA. I was hired in 2019 by an individual to handle her wrongful termination case on an hourly fee basis. I usually work on contingency but this client made about 35k/yr and found a new job for less money right after she was fired. After paying around 17k in attorney’s fees she runs out of money and pays me 500 every few months but even that eventually stops. We end up winning a jury trial and appeal.
