I’m a 7-8ish years out director of legal at a small media company. I’ve been here about 3 years and want out, but I’m not sure whether it’s the right time considering that I don’t want to go to a giant company with tons of lawyers (I get emails from Netflix, roku, Viacom recruiters frequently). My goal job is to be the first legal hire at a media startup and eventually build out my own team. Am I too early for that?

At 7-8 years of experience you probably will have an easier time landing a position as the second legal hire. (Probably) can’t hurt to apply though.

Honestly at this point I’d do NDAs instead of spending all day trying to follow all of our parent company’s 12 step internal contract procedures

funny

Reasons I want to leave:
- while I’m in charge of legal (I report to ceo) I have little authority to do anything because we are owned by a crazy parent company who cares way more about procedures than business, so I feel like I basically have an internal compliance job.
- I keep having to cover support roles because we can’t keep anyone in the jobs (pay + the job is basically internal compliance paperwork and admin)
- I make 165 no bonus / equity etc.

Good afternoon Senior Counsel,
Is your team hiring and are any of the roles remote? Thank you!

Unfortunately not! It’s a very pro face time company

Can anyone at Amazon give me some insight into a Sr. Product Manager (tech) salary works as well as other perks and bonuses. I know TC is salary+ bonus spread over 2 years and stocks that vest after 4. What happens year 3? Is there an annual bonus from year 3 on? Is stock granted after the initial bonus? The salaries seem generous for the first few years but then what? Thanks!
