Three trials in 3 months with 15 attorneys? That’s a big nope for me. You’ll work the same hours for less money.
Is the salary there similar to big law market salary? Any equity options?
My impression of those small troll patent lit firms is that you give up your sense of purpose by representing trolls, but you make more money doing more-fun work than you would in big law.
Money will be more. Like 70 k more.
What are these plaintiff side boutique unicorns?! I was intrigued and got an offer from a securities class action firm for a whopping 100k pay cut

OP - I have no idea if you’re heading to my firm (because this sounds similar to us), but if you’re getting paid more and it’s plaintiff’s work, then might as well try it out. As A1 said, the work is fun and it’s nice being able to control some of the timeline. If you hate it, you can go back to big law
As far as I can tell, there isn’t anyone on here from New Firm. What’s the downside from your viewpoint? I’ve worked across from another plaintiff shop and their work is pretty sloppy (they’re more high volume but trying to inch into high value cases). I’m worried that will translate into a reputational hit or close the door on in house opportunities. I’m also generally worried about firm finances should things slow down.
Agree with giving up your sense of purpose/your conscience to do troll work and it will be harder to get an in house position at least on the defense side. What are the pros, money and more trial work? I don’t think it’s worth potentially being stuck on the troll side forever.
OP, how did you get in front of this firm for an interview, anyway? Was it through a recruiter? I get a lot of recruiter emails, but never hear about job openings like this. Just curious.
