Without wanting to sound mean: don't worry so much about being "likeable". Changing behaviour in a way that one things will make them appeal to others almost invariably leads to cringeworthy awkwardness. If you offend someone, just apologise. But most importantly, be yourself. People will get used to your personality and you'll get more respect by being honest and consistent :)
When someone comes to your desk to talk to you, stop what you're doing and turn to give them your full attention. Have something ready to talk about if you get stuck in an elevator conversation (weekend plans, Olympics, some news story). Go to team happy hours for at least a little while and don't talk only about work.
Agree with this. But to be helpful - be nice at least. Most people like nice people.
