That is definitely on the low side, but I can see how it might happen if you're with the same company and in the same position that you started in when you didn't have experience to show. It might be time to renegotiate?
Wow that's a super low salary. I don't think any tech role should be making that even new grads and self taught. What company are you at? You'd probably have to switch and take the title with you. Get at least 65k.
That is considerably low... I'd also recommend a technical cert relative to your career advancement (IT is all about practical experience & expertise validation). Additionally, a regular salary search (and asking around) with glassdoor, etc. wouldn't hurt, review the YOE, additional certs, etc. your peers hold and see where you measure up. And lastly, schedule some time with your immediate leaders (or appropriate personnel) to discuss your performance relative to your compensation. For many, the anticipation of these discussions with a current employer can be intimidating, but do the research, honestly self-reflect on your contributions, prepare your request - take a deep breath 🙂 - and ask for it.
In the end, you have not because you ask not, but all they can do, is tell you no and if you've appropriately prepared... your research should include some potential opportunities most align with your experience and expected compensation based on the market.
Do your best to embrace suck and remember without struggle there is no progress. Best of luck!
Forgot... your salary potential usually grows as you move to other companies, don't be afraid to leave
That’s a low salary. Have you looked into Associate QA Engineer roles? They can be a pathway into more technical roles and are a great way to learn how software is made.
I applied at another company too :-) just nervous since I don’t have much of a technical background! 🥴
It is low, and begs the question, have you asked for more? Being self-taught shouldn’t hold you back, plenty of people made their names and success by learning on their own and innovating because they aren’t held back by conventional teaching. Start making some lists of what you’ve learned and accomplished and then research what you would be paid elsewhere.
Super low… but.. where do you live?
I’m in Minnesota but my employer is based out of Columbus Ohio
