What are your opinions about potential big4 layoffs in m&a tax? Campus hiring starting next year so I don’t have a good idea of what people are thinking at the firm. I know m&a is typically not where you want to be in a recession so I’m curious about job security starting next year. Any insights/opinions would be appreciated. EY PwC Deloitte KPMG

How long have you been back? Honestly, you're most likely overthinking, but you could always mention that you saw it and ask what the plans are for the department. It can really be tough to know how to approach these situations.
About a month and a half
Is there any chance it could still be posted even though you've been back for a month and a half? That's not a super long time, so maybe they forgot to take it down? It's hard to tell but wouldn't hurt bringing it up if it will calm your mind.
That is hard to say, if your company is growing then you probably don't have anything to worry about but if it's not... well it wouldn't hurt to bring it up to your boss. But they may ask why you were on Indeed so say that a friend of yours is looking for a role when they came across the posting
That truly is what happened lol. I have not been on indeed but my friend asked about using me as a reference and I was so confused and asked for what and she said there was a job posted. So then of course I got on indeed and looked and there it was. 😕
You can bring it up with your boss if you think it'll help settle your worries a little. You're most likely just overthinking it.
Are they building a pipeline of talent? Are they looking for ideas from the pipeline interviews? Hard to tell.
I was also thinking maybe they have it listed to continue to get applicants in case they are worried about me being a flight risk? I know the trust will have to be built back up again, but I truly have no interest in leaving this company again.
It's possible that they want other applicants for the role. We can't really tell for sure. But if you want, you approach your boss and tell him/her that you are not planning to leave again.
I’d ask them directly. You can very easily say that you have had some folks reach out to you about a posting online and you’d like to point them in the right direction. This opens the door for you to seek to understand what the role is without it being intrusive.
Relax. Maybe they're just looking to expand your department. I wouldn't worry too much about it if I perform well enough.

If you think you might be overthinking it then you probably are. Stop borrowing anxiety and get back to enjoying your life, amigo.
