It’s 12 month FMLA ... you’re fine and yes it takes time to get into a groove. Reality is stop trying to get back to where you were bc it’s all different now. Find your new groove.
The more you keep trying to ‘get it back’ the longer and more difficult it will be to find a rhythm that feels right.
Yup. All the exhaustion and stress is to be expected. The good news is that things will eventually start feeling normal again... in about 10 years.
Good luck!
You are not alone! I felt like that when I came back. If you’re pumping, sad to say but the hormones don’t help. Once I stopped after 11.5 months there was this weird shift-super anxious/worried/detached then bam: back to the old me but now with quicker instincts. Pumping is so disruptive but I used the time to crank in peace and quiet on decks or better yet I’d save work to review for then and leave more complete notes in the deck for people. It will begin to feel normal once you’ve adjusted to the new rhythm of things! (Like maybe 2 months and you should feel steady.)
corporate agency life is not friendly to the transition either. my immediate team is trying to be supportive, but I honestly don't know how sustainable this is, or if my "transition back" will ultimately cost me. 🙃
This might be a stupid question but... You’re in the US, yes?
yes
12 week fmla
This is heartbreaking. Every agency I’ve worked in (since 2005) has been super supportive of new moms. You’re going to be OK.
Is there a parent or mom support type group officially or unofficially at your agency. Or just other new moms you could try to find and meet up with?
Are you on their health insurance? You are now a lot more expensive for them.
I'm not. no leave pay either
