What are the options for transferring as a Deloitte Mgr to MBB PL/EM?

Expect to go down a level transitioning to MBB, so maybe start as a fairly high level Deloitte person and transition down to mid-level MBB

Ok thanks for the input

It is interesting that at the partner level there seems to be more direct transfers. I doubt all the former Accenture partners that MBB hires are taking leveling hits when coming over.

The difference between partner laterals and other laters is that partners bring a book of business and relationships. Bringing in outside hires as lateral managers means you are bringing in weak managers who don't know how the firm works.

I understand the book of business argument but considering how important partners are to establishing and propagating culture, standards, etc. you would think MBB would care more about the long term reputation of the firms than the short term benefit of bringing in a book of business. I do appreciate that the books of business can be long term as well but allow me the generalization.

First worry about getting in, then worry about the exact level. Also, being a PL (or manager equivalent) in mbb is a very different job than what you're doing and there's a serious learning curve so you won't regret having the extra year to get up the curve

I was laid off from a resource management role, working with employees approaching or on the bench, working with managers to staff projects, and support functions like report creation, scheduling, etc. Roles like this are few and many large consulting firms have frozen internal hiring. Do you think it would be beneficial to get a SHRM cert? Would that help get a "talent related" HR role? Worth the money? I have a background in recruitment as well.

I'll be joining Microsoft's FRP next year, and I'm trying to establish a plan for my LT goals. From reading various threads, the consistency seems to be consulting->FAANG. Since I'll be starting at Microsoft and Strategy is something of interest, can anyone share their experiences if they have done this or know someone who has? Wondering what role an M7 MBA may lead to as well (considering). TIA!

Can somebody please explain to me why MBB and other top consulting firms are so adamant that you have an MBA? I majored in accounting, finance, and operations management at a top 10 undergrad business school and then got my masters in information systems from the grad school program. I took multiple MBA courses as electives when getting my masters and it seemed like those classes were very basic and easy. Idk if I would learn anything in an MBA program that I hadn’t already learned in undergrad

Not necessarily investment advice, but I am applying for an EIN for my LLC. Single member LLC, plan on doing social media and possibly some consulting work depending on the client. My question is should I file a Form 2553 to have my LLC have an S corp status? I would like to use the revenue to pay my rent or for other discretionary income outside of my 9-5 (less than 2k/mnth). So does it make sense to do a form 2553 so I can pay myself as the sole prop, deducted that payroll from taxes?

I’m curious to hear from people at other firms what is offered in terms of part time work or alternative work options for people that don’t really care about making partner and might want to work part time. If your firm offers this, what’s the billable requirement, how much of a pay cut is it, and do you still get benefits? Thanks!
