Extremely guilty because my team is at the client site and I feel like I’m not giving them my full support by working from home. Does anyone else have such feelings of guilt? Additionally, would the firm perceive you as slacking off and will it have an impact on year end metrics?

like

Take care of yourself. Tell your team you’re still trying to contribute and ask for work.

like

Totally understand the guilty feeling, but keep reminding yourself that your health is most important, and the work will get done. Think about how you would feel if this was happening to one of your team members- you would likely tell them to take care of their health first. Have the same compassion for yourself! Congratulations and hope you are feeling better soon!

Trust your intuition. You’re likely going to feel ok in a few weeks, but then you’ll probably start feeling more & more tired/uncomfortable around 6 months. You’ll intuitively know when to back off & rest, & when to suck it up & power through. Rest when your gut tells you to. In the grand scheme of a career, pregnancy/maternity leave isn’t that much time, so try to keep that in perspective.

I’m 25 weeks and had similar struggles in the beginning. There were days I was calling into calls from the bathroom and puking on mute. That phase only lasted for a few weeks so do whatever it is you need to do in order to take care of yourself and baby. If you have to take a couple sick days, if you need to work from home...do it! In the grand scheme of things, you’re only pregnant a small portion of your career and there is NOTHING more important than taking care of baby! If being less than 100% for a few weeks impacts your year end bonus, so be it. You have your whole life to work and only a few months to be pregnant!

I was in a similar situation. I felt ill and would often vommit every morning. Now my team saw this in the beginning, therefore I think they were more understanding because they saw me running to the bathroom first hand. But don't feel bad all. This is temporary, not forever. If you're still doing great work, I don't see why it should matter.

Hi! I have two offers and I’m not sure what to do. One is with a small firm that serves as outside counsel to medical practices (leasing, employment issues and acquisitions are primary work load) and the other is in-house for a pharmaceutical company (managing outside counsel, vendor contracts, privacy). The firm pays much better (1800 hours, flexible wfh) but I feel like the experience in house would go further in becoming a GC down the road. Please help!

Moving to NYC next year, and my SO is based in Seattle. He is very keen to spend more time with me in NYC, even suggesting living there while remote working is still a thing. I’m a little hesitant bc we’ve only been dating for 2-3 months and it would feel like moving in tgt. Also not sure if i should be looking for a studio or 1br for more space but at a much higher price tag that i have to pay for. Any thoughts?

Has anyone tried EMDR to deal with childhood traumatic experiences? I'm not talking about things like physical abuse etc. but due to separation from parents at a young age which was driven by circumstances and decisions parents made. Due to this, I don't feel much connection with my parents. It has impacted my romantic relationships and causes constant anxiety at work because I feel like a helpless child inside, lack confidence and self worth and fear failure. Appreciate any EMDR experiences.

I have 10+ years of experience Agency side, but looking to move Client side with remote work. I've applied for a number of roles either directly on Client sites or via LinkedIn, but haven't even received anything other than a straight rejection at the first stage. Wondering if anyone has experienced similar and overcome it/any tips. My resume has a number of large Agencies and global clients on it, with (IMO at least) some nice success stories, but wondering if I'm missing something obvious.

Im leaning toward staying, because I really do love where I am, but thats life changing money! Any advice is appreciated!

Full-time MBA or EMBA? My company (EY) would pay for EMBA, but require me to stay with the firm for 3y post graduation; MBA would be on me and I have no more than 50k in my savings. The reason I am considering full time MBA is that I am not sure I want to stay in consulting, especially not in EY. Also, I am 30yo with 7y of experience and was recently promoted to a Manager. Any advice?

I interviewed for a position remotely 3 weeks ago with the 3 partners of an agency at the same time, and it went well. The CFO then took 30 minutes after the initial hour to talk more and she asked that I reach out to her for more questions as well as to let her know when I have relocated as I told them that I am about to move. After 3 weeks, I sent a follow-up note to the HR contact and no response all last week. Shall I try contacting the CFO directly since she did ask that I do? Thoughts?

Going into last night I had a 10 point lead with DeAndre Hopkins to play and a flex (David Montgomery or Allen Robinson) and my boss had Taylor Lockett. Thought I had this on lock and then Lockett decides to go off for 50+ points. Now I'm down 20 points with an open flex spot for Montgomery or Robinson. Leaning towards Robinson since Montgomery hasn't had a good game since Week 2. Thoughts?
