We have the vista and purchased originally for same reasons you state for our first kid. Second child is now 5 months. Very nice that we were able to seamlessly convert existing stroller to second baby (though of note - rumble seat is not cheap), we love love love how easy it is to push with one baby in it and now it is great if we are just riding around with the little one can easily throw on the attachment when we go to pick up the big one, and the older one also loves the little standing ride along board. However - it is no longer easy to push with a baby on the bottom front (for obvious physics reasons that did not occur to me before actually using ours with two kids). We are thinking of getting a second stroller as our primary one to use when pushing both that is a side by side (eyeing the Thule double jogging) for this reason. A mom friend has that and says she pushes her two kids uphill in it using one hand.

Oh that's a great point! Thank you for your insight

Love my vista. We are currently on our third kid, same stroller. We just use the Mesa with it to simplify parts (no additional adapters needed) but in all honesty, I think pretty much all infant car seats are heavy once you put a baby in there. The Nuna Pipa is the lightest (5-6 pounds) and the Mesa is 10, so you can always go that route. The vista isn’t practical if you are going to want to take a stroller in and out of the car, so we have a snap n go for easy in and out. But for walks around the neighborhood, it’s so smooth and easy for 2 kids. We live in a city and it takes bumps and sidewalks like a champ!

Loved my uppababy cruz so I'm sure the vista which can take 2 is great. I've also heard great things about mockingbird and lalo which are pretty much uppababy dupes

Op see if there are any stores around you that let you try the car seats in your car. I loved the Nuna car seat bc it was light but it didn’t properly in my car so I got the clek car seat. It’s heavier but I’m happy with the clek. Also, you don’t have to get matching (I didn’t because clek just makes seats not strollers) and yeah I had to buy an adapter but it was only like 20 bucks and worth it to get the car seat and stroller I wanted.

Uppababy Vista is the classic choice for what you’re looking for, it really is excellent.

I used the Nuna Pipa with the Vista, but all infant seats are heavier than you’d expect.

We have UPPAbaby vista. There are some new dupes on the market, so I’d check those out too. We love our vista and have no complaints, but I’d check out the alternatives before purchasing. They weren’t on the market when we had our first.

Thank you!

Are you a city dweller who will use it daily, or it in the burbs where it means loading and unloading it from your car anytime you go somewhere? Also are you expecting to have your kids pretty close together? The expandable systems are great but they are also big and heavy and harder to maneuver, especially when you only have one kid (one kid total, or one kid on a particular trip, or when your first kid is older and doesn't want to ride in the stroller).

So my question is not so much about the weight of the car seat as it is about the weight of the stroller itself. For example, the Vista is a great workhorse for city dwellers, but I would not want to lug that thing in and out of a car all the time. (We went the baby jogger route, and they do have a decent selection of adapters. We got a very lightweight graco infant seat and attached it to the city mini. Later upgraded to the city select when #2 came along, but I really can't overstate how much I prefer pushing the city mini in every situation where it's not absolutely critical to take the double).

Oh I'll have to check that one out, thank you!! And congrats mama 🙂

I have the uppa baby Cruz and it’s great but by no means is it light. Also the Mesa bucket car seat that goes with it is quite heavy with a baby in it!

Yes I think that's one of the ones I saw! It was so heavy, I was shocked

I’m a Vista owner and I’ll tell you why it fits my lifestyle. I live in NYC and now, during COVID, we use it as our primary mode of transportation. It moves so well and holds SO MUCH. I love thrifting and doing the occasional beer run and it’s great to load up the haul to take home. The major complaint people have with the vista is that it is heavy. But since we aren’t taking public transit that’s not a problem. We also have the Mesa car seat that goes with this. It’s perfect for day trips - can install so easily in a rental car and then we snap into the base and go!

Yes, it's so heavy! I would not be able to carry that car seat in and out of the house/car. I also worry about managing it on my own clipping it in and out of the stroller on my own. Hoping to find a stroller system that has a car seat that's much more manageable since I will be carrying it quite a bit and constantly taking it in and out of the car and I'm not the strongest person. :/

Check out moms groups in your area as well, we ended up buying a vista that was hardly used and half the price! I like the vista when we had our first babe in Chicago and used it daily (hardly drove). Now that we are in Charlotte (and have baby 2) we don’t use it as much except for long walks, never take it anywhere that i would have to fold and load it. For quick trips we have the Doona for baby and a city select for the toddler if we absolutely need it.

Thanks for sharing!

I live in a city and went with the city mini mainly because I could push and steer with just one hand (one front wheel is key for manuvering) and folds down super easy by picking up from the seat w one hand. You can get a car seat adapter (we did for the chicco keyfit 30) which was great, all got secondhand in awesome condition much cheaper than new. Kids are 2 yrs apart and we went with the universal riding board attachment though now that the oldest is 4 we prefer a sit and stand style. Good luck!

Love our city mini too!

We got the uppababy vista and the Mesa car seat for that very reason, and I really like it! I was initially concerned about the weight as well because I’m not that big either (I’m 5’4” and was 113 lbs pre-baby with almost no muscle mass 😅), but somehow after having the baby I’ve found the strength to lug around the car seat with baby in it (he’s currently clocking in at 16 lbs) so maybe it’ll work for you too? Like there’s no way I would be able to just carry around 20+ lbs of weight normally, but it’s somehow different when it’s your baby!

Vista! I live in SF and it’s perfect. We also have the Doona for car seat instead of the UppaBaby Mesa because we are planning on traveling a decent amount in the first year

Should I have a second child? I met my husband later in life at 37 yo. We had our first when I was 39. I thought I was good with just one as I was never someone who really wanted kids but I know my husband would love to have another and now that I have one I think about her having a sibling. I’ll be 41 in March so we need to start now. I love the ease and flexibility of one child and she’s been such good baby. I’m worried that if we have another I’ll regret it. Nowadays I feel like I don’t care about my job as much and being away from him gets more and more difficult.
