Uber is on hiring freeze!!@
Hi Sharks, I had an interview with Tata Consultancy today and cleared the TAG round by answering all their questions. So here my query is, based on my performance will they offer me a hike of 100% or more from my CCTC, because this role is too relevant to my domain and technical knowledge so that I don't wanna miss out on this.

Need help from Amazon 🐠 Anyone interviewed for Amazon L5 BIE in GSF supply chain team? The JD said basic qualifications include data modeling, ETL, data warehousing and optimization. Any idea or experience how they will test these topics? Asking about related experience? Or show some data and ask how you will deal with that? Or like a case study, given a senario and ask how you think in order to tackle problem? Need advice/idea/experience urgently. Thanks in advance.Amazon @BIE
What kind of roles pay 200-300k?
Hi Everyone,
I just received an offer to work as an software sales representative (SDR) for IBMs Z systems. I'm coming as a sales engineer in the cloud security space. Can anyone advise me on whether Z systems are something worth going into? Also what do the growth opportunities look like at IBM? Is there opportunity for lateral movement onto other teams? Not too sure how I feel about working on mainframes (Z systems) but they keep pitching hybrid cloud to me. IBM

Completely anecdotal: I studied art in school and was a web hobbyist, and I entered the industry as a "designer/developer." I found that a lot more (frequently unqualified) people want to tell you how to design than how to code (while there's still plenty of the latter) and I ended up disengaging from the design side of things because design-by-committee always left me feeling drained and it was easier not to care about that. But also, I enjoy coding and I'm definitely better at it by now, so maybe it's a me thing.
I will also say the "designer/developer" thing isn't really a great concept. It's two very different sets of skills, even if they're related. I've rarely encountered someone who was very good at both—including, I eventually conceded, me. I tried to hire them for a few years and rarely found a good fit.
But having some understanding of both sides of the aisle is very valuable, and marketable. If you're interested in learning design, it's easy enough to stick a toe in the waters. Freelance, side projects, online courses. Give it a shot and see if you like it.

I’ve worked with a designer who could code react pretty well, but I’m imagining a role where having better technical lens could better inform the designs.
This is exactly my journey. I use 3 major selling points.
1) Designs are accessibility informed in every aspect from contrast to the way content is structured. Implementation of my last design scored a 94 on Lighthouse (WCAG) before even making the suggested tweaks. We got it to a 99.
2) I understand the Pareto (80:20) rule when it comes to design impact vs ease of implementation. If I make an unorthodox choice, I have a decent idea of how long it’s going to take to implement responsively and accessibly.
3) Along the same vein I’m familiar with major libraries (i.e. Material). I pick the one that’s closest to my vision and every deviation from OOB is deliberate. frustrating to spend time overriding defaults just because of a designer’s arbitrary choices.
So in the end, you’re saving your employer or client a lot of money because dev time is expensive.
I love Figma because of its auto layout, and you can even render flexbox-based react w the Anima plugin
