I would try to get as broad experience as possible, rather than specializing.

Any data scientists here whose day to day doesn’t involve much ML and is more focused on analyzing/visualizing metrics? I’m coming from a role that’s v heavy in predictive modeling (which I like), and I’m interviewing at a social media company with a team that focuses more on analyzing the outputs of a modeling team. Is it hard to switch to a more ML heavy role later on?

I got comfortable in my staff aug role where I work about 20hours a week. Asked to be off boarded but doesn’t seem like the current pipeline of projects will be any better...
