Hi Folks, I submitted documents 2 weeks ago for BGV in Tech Mahindra. I have not got any response so far from HR. However, last week they scheduled another interview and dropped me email just before 15 mins, yet i joined the interview but no one joined from their end. Now, HR is not responding. What should I understand from this case? Am I rejected? Tech Mahindra Tata Consultancy
I hate moments where we have to make these decisions. Do you become less of yourself and be less authentic in how you show up to fit in? How many of these little trade-offs happen until it gets close to compromising who you are?
Technically, OP, if you are asked to lose the clear studs, it’s gender discrimination. Saying men should not wear earrings, while women are not given the same feedback, proves this out. Whether you want to pick that battle is up to you.
Personally, I’d rather see ear piercings, nose rings, tattooes, and wildly colored hair. But I live in Austin and work with creatives. If someone showed up completely forgettable in a suit and the same vacant, bored expression, and analysis / recommendations, I’d worry about their well-being. Well that, or assume they’re from Connecticut.
I grew up in Fairfield county. Definitely pretty accurate and took me a while to appreciate being unique and weird.
If I were you, I would wear them (as you wish, clear or not) and then let the quality of your work speak for itself! I have a nose piercing that I was afraid I would have to take out when I interviewed, and no client has ever made any comments about it in 8+ years of client facing consulting.
I worked on a project team with a security architect who had alternating days of pink/purple/blue hair and while some people were shocked at first, he was great at his job and no one ever questioned his ability to deliver / manage client relationships
It shouldn’t be, but the older generation who’s in the positions are still stuck in the past
Ok sure, but is this a hill worth dying on? To many people, yes. To me, it wouldn’t be. It’s a personal choice.
Yes, and if I were your manager I’d ask you to lose them by day 2.
I love wearing a dress at work, let's the balls hang a little better, prevents a Betty swollocks, also some interesting conversations.
I have an MBB friend, who is doing OnlyFans…so maybe not it’s not as serious as you thought.
Plot twist: their OF is just a casing advice channel for prospective applicants
Wear them, change the narrative!!
Don’t work at a company that doesn’t let you be you.

I’m at Accenture too. Are you saying I should pierce my ears to get an offer at MBB?
Chief
Nah. That hoc totally promptered it.

It’s really a shame how the majority of replies here are suggesting not to be your most authentic self at work. I understand there are implied protocols solely based on the fact we are in professional services—however, if no one attempts to reshape a narrative which is completely dated today, do we just continue to accept what is and not what can be?
I agree there D2
Woman here, sometimes I don't wear my earnings for months and the holes don't close. During covid, I didn't wear earrings for at least 10 months and then I used them a few weeks ago and no problem.
Hahaha, I am SC1, I got earnings since I was a newborn.
The point I was trying to make is that he shouldn't worry so much about the holes closing. Just don't wear earrings at work, if they are frown upon in the culture where he willingly chooses to work and wear them in his private time.
There are a lot of clothing restrictions in a professional environment for women and men, they change over time, but I wouldn't pick earrings over a good job.
I’m a male ASC and have had my ear piercing (gold earlobe stud) in for a year and have never had any comments besides compliments — and consistently get very highly rated. go for it!!!
just do it. may ever so slightly hurt your chances at one or two opportunities. paves the way for the rest of us to be our authentic selves. so thank you
Did you wear them when you interviewed? If not that seems to suggest you were willing to make a compromise to get through the door in the first place.
I a manager at T2 and I wouldn’t ask you to lose them. Depends on your team.

Do you really want to work somewhere that is going to give a crap about whether you have earrings?
This thread is a mess lmao. Y’all need to get out more
Yeah I’ve never seen anyone with piercings at MBB that was in client facing roles
Im sure there are … I just never seen any myself lol
Keep them
Work there. When you get fired sue for discrimination. Then retire
I seriously doubt a dress code would win that kind of money. Your lawyer vs the deep pockets of the corporation?
I know several male consultants at my firm who have ear piercings. Hell some men/women even have nose piercings. I really don’t think it matters unless you make it matter 🤷🏻♀️
Definitely wear them! If any clients had a problem with it I’d stick up for you if you were on my team.
