I'm a Management Consultant without transaction experience. I have recently helped set up a Billion dollar fund - from Target Operating Model to Due Dil framework and team setup. This was one of my consulting projects. What are my chances of pivoting into a Buy side role? Total exp 10yrs. Appreciate pointers on how to get in - reach outs, upskilling Addn: Deep exp in Financial Services ,Technology consumer banking, but not consumer otherwise. Some in Pharma & Healthcare as well

Can try PE Opps

like

I think buy side investment roles will be a challenge because you don’t have investment experience. PE opps or internal PE may be easier though.

like

Should also mention that the firm you’re at is v important. If you’re MBB that helps regardless of what you’re doing because of the prestige which PE cares about a lot. If Big 4 non deals very very hard I would say but nothing is impossible!

like

Yes you can find roles on LinkedIn. It will be very difficult to pivot to deal side. Possible if you jump to another fund, maybe LMM but candidly, unlikely

like

Why not go work for the fund you set up to be in the early deal team and say the role doesn’t matter?

like

Lots of winks, tell them you like how they smell, normal stuff like that you know

Yeah seems like your best fit would be for a Portfolio Operations Senior Associate position

like

Thanks for quick revert. How should I apply? Are these roles available on LinkedIn? And any chance to move into deals team couple of years later?

like

What firm are you at? This is exactly what I want to do one day.

Haha, I'm at a boutique Management consulting firm that does a lot of run of the mill consulting things - distribution strategy, rev improvement, profitability, bpr, cost redn, hr initiatives, digital work, etc. We were lucky to get shortlisted for this work thru an RFP route and beat EY Parthenon and Accenture strat in the RFP. But this is the first time we've done such work, it's not our bread and butter.

You might have the best health insurance in the world, but this is how deep an intubation goes into you just so you can BREATHE. And there’s currently no way to know if you need it or not. Also, whether you’ll need to be intubated or not depends only on your immune response and there’s no medication to help.

A recruiter shared a salary band of 110-120 during an initial phone screen and I said it’s within expectation but didn’t commit to a number. However, if I get an offer, is it possible to negotiate after hearing the responsibilities of the position? I’d ideally like 125-135, but haven’t negotiated before. Appreciate any tips!

So far, I understand that there are client-serving firms like FTI and then the B4 will have forensics arms as well. What are some other forensic accounting roles? Pros and cons? Better than audit? Honestly just looking to learn anything.

Got promoted to senior but did not get a raise to go with it. Firm keeping salaries flat this year due to COVID-19, but I was shocked when I found out promoted staff wouldn’t be getting a raise either. To me, this whole thing rings hollow because the firm has told us multiple times that they were projecting flat growth for the year when compared to last year (which was one of the best in firm history). So it pisses me off that they shot their mouth off about how great year last year was...cont

Hey! Can anyone assist with what can be claimed as workers comp? I was at work when I had my first episode of vertigo. Everything was spinning, wouldn't stop, and I couldn't stand or sit. I was freaking out and asked to be rushed to ER. Work paid for the ambulance. No physical injury. Insurance apparently didn't cover emergency charges. The out of pocket expense is about $2.5k and was wondering if I can claim this as workers comp. Again, no physical injury though.

Do any of you have best practices, tips or resources in doing this specifically for tech talent?
