Does anyone own a second home for vacation? If so, how did you finance/purchase it? Considering doing some serious research on the prospect, and would not rent it out, but simply use on weekends and such.
Project leadership is telling teams that they need to fly in the week of thanksgiving and possible Christmas as well. The assumption is that we fly home the day prior to the actual holiday. 😂
First day in industry and go to look at my time sheet.... What? There’s only one code I need to put my time to if I’m working? I can submit it weekly? And I don’t need to give at least 2 weeks advance for PTO when I’m requesting it? Oh me oh my why did I not make this move sooner!
How to grow a beard in a professional manner: step 1- leave on vacation for >1 week; step 2- don't shave; step 3- never come back...
First time on bench since I joined last year. Feels weird to have pretty much nothing to do but really needed the time off. Should I try to find a project right away or wait for one more week? ⛱
Planning to accept another job soon but have a scheduled 1 week vacation starting next week. When should I put in 2 weeks notice that I’m leaving? Is it a risk that they withdraw approval of my long-approved PTO? New job wants me to start ASAP so I’d feel bad delaying start dat over a month if the solution is to wait until after vacation to give 2weeks notice
Just got an offer to work someplace else. Pay, PTO, medical and 401k seem good. What else could I try to negotiate?
Has anyone bought a vacation rental in Orlando? Any tips? Looking at reunion, windsors, champions gate. It’s all a little overwhelming. I’d plan to rent it out part of the time on vrbo and stay there maybe a month a year.
KPMG firm-wide update re PTO: we aren’t AT THIS TIME considering the unlimited PTO policy EY just rolled out, we think our current policy is the right policy for our people even though it has a balance sheet impact.
Accounting bowl, kpmg just announced we’re finally getting 2 shutdowns, one at calendar YE and one around July 4th. They will do so by moving 5 PTO days into the holiday calendar. How would you feel?
How did you all handle like a family matter or traumatic event that happened while super busy at work? I’m finding myself being very unmotivated and unable to focus, but feel like I can’t take time off.
Notice etiquete question. If you give your 2 weeks’ notice on a Monday, is your last day a Monday (2 weeks later) or can it be the previous Friday? Does your answer change depending on the time (morning/ afternoon) notice is given? If I don’t want to potentially burn any bridges, should I just have my notice period end on a Monday and just take that day out of my scheduled vacation before starting my next job? First time giving notice - would be interested in hearing what others have done.
Recently got an offer from one of the MBB as entry level staff and I am wondering if the salary and benefits (PTO etc) are non-negotiable ？
I will never understand grown ups that don’t have children that still choose to vacation at Disney
What are my fb peeps doing / going during this holiday season. I want to head somewhere last week of December. Need suggestions.
My company is changing to unlimited vacation days. Will they pay out the people who still have vacations saved up? They are being super secretive. Has anyone gone through this?
How do sick days work? Just realized that 1/3 of my “PTO” is actually sick days (and it’s not generous and you don’t get paid out when you leave). I’m very lucky to not get sick but does that mean in order to use some I’ll have to spontaneously say I’m ill with little advanced notice? Seems like a policy which rewards people for leaving their team in a lurch.
Has anyone had luck getting anything from Marriott in lieu of suite night upgrades? I’ve legit had 20 requests declined this year due to unavailability. How many points?!
CFP designation even though not a fee base planner. Do you see any conflicts of interest/ misleading? Should a CFP be required to be a fee based planner?
There’s no better feeling than getting into a top 2 business school after being denied a promotion + being discriminated against in a toxic work environment (sorry for the humblebrag, just so excited to leave my job)
I got offer from deloitte for 13.5 fixed with 10%vp and EY for 14.5 fixed plus 5%vp, publicis sapient for 17 fixed with permanant work from home and no vp. Which one is good? I have 5 years of experience
W+K is in hot water in Brazil — another instance of ads going wrong because of little empowered-to-speak-up diversity at the table at any stage of the concepting, pitching, greenlighting, production, post-production, finishing, final approval and distribution? Or just a fluke? https://www.campaignlive.com/article/wieden-+-kennedy-brazil-creative-leadership-departs-controversial-work/1727220
I’m a CPA/FA and want to sit for the CFP exam. When I took the CPA I used CPAExcel and I loved it bc it broke down the material into “bite sized” lessons. Anything like that for CFP? Continued..
I am a background check away from putting in my notice. KEEP grinding if you’re miserable and/or have trouble getting out of bed in the morning. This took a lot of ghosting and interviews+offer letters being taken off the table due to COVID. Stay humble and you’ll be next. Take a midday walk and schedule some coffee meetings to expand your network and stay sane.
Applied to wework role. Anyone have any insight into organization, culture and compensation? Currently at 3 YOE
Have been pinged for a possible role as Director of Operations at a promising looking startup with a 50%% pay increase & equity. It looks like an amazing opportunity.. but my husband and I have just started trying for our first kid, and I'm not sure about leaving the stability and benefits of Big 4, even though I feel like I have run out of career growth here. Has anyone changed jobs at a similar point, or worked at a startup as a new mom, that might be able to share perspective or opinions?
Anybody at Deloitte willing to drop me a referral? Found a posting for which I should be a good fit.
Hello Everyone! I am an ETL Developer with 9+ YOE. I have job offers from the below companies with almost same compensation. Can you suggest which is a good option to join if job security and work life balance is of priority? 1. Luxoft India LLP (A DXC acquired company) 2. HCL Technologies 3. Legato Health Technologies 4. Cognizant Technology Solutions Looking forward for your feedback and suggestions. Thank you in advance.
Interviewed at Big 4. Never discussed compensation, however when i filled out the online app I put a high but ‘safe’ number. They extended an offer with my original amount,is it too late to negotiate?
Any insights on Protiviti’s data and analytics space? and also on so called ‘WLB’? 9years in analytics in Big 4 and looking to switch if that helps.
Is there a WFH stipend available to us? Few other firms offering this and curious if Accenture offers similar support
someone save this attorneys job. I hired an attorney with 5 years experience. I send her assignments and usually the law we're using. She never reads the breifs or memos we've prepared. Does her own research and usually misses the points. When I ask why she says she's intimidated by the memos etc and they're "hard". That drove me up a wall. We don't get paid to do easy things. Just because it's hard you give up? WTF.
Hey folks, Has anyone transferred their H1B to another employer? How did it go, eg did you need to stop working / leave the country/ anything else? How long does it take? Anyone with a Green card in process - has it affected you in any way? Thanks!
