I worked with at a previous job. I had a good working relationship with him, I contacted him and he mentioned he had a few clients that need managers. He mentioned no client is perfect but he would walk me through the clients he has and if I like any I can let him know and he can put in a request. My fear is 2 things. 1) I don’t want to piss off my counselor. And they not even let me change the client. 2) my counselor is pretty easy going and gave me a decent review, I don’t know if my old senior manager has changed or what. I would only move if I can directly work with him only. It’s just the counselor is up for partner. She is very very firm is perfect type. I don’t want to piss her off. The client is terrible, probably one of the worst unorganized people I have ever dealt with. I don’t like the work either. What also worried me, is that there was a shit show entity that another senior manager tried to put me on. I told my counselor no and she faught for me to not be on it. I fear that I am good and hard working and they will try to put me on the difficult parts next year

I think you need to think through another angle to get off of this client …other than that it’s too messy. Is there a better opportunity on another client? What about the work don’t you like and would you be better suited on something else? If my teammate came to me and told me they wanted off because it’s a mess I would not grant that and frankly that’s not fair because as you said no client is perfect

I was thinking saying I wanted something more technical? This client it makes you feel like a donkey. It’s just data entry and volume with no substance I’m kind of scared like idk how to go about it? I don’t want to piss anyone off

Yeah agreed you’ll need different reasons than not liking how they handle things. Isnt there someone who can tell they client they expect better results? I don’t understand partners being so detached that these clients who make our lives 10x harder dont take this feedback and make improvements.

Anyone have managers / leadership (non consulting) who seems disengaged? We all hate micro managers, but on the other side of the spectrum my manager signs on at 10am, doesn’t respond to requests for input, takes a ton of PTO yet still is angry that my project is on fire and gives me tons of extra work, it makes me feel very demotivated - why should I kill myself and work hard if they don’t give a shit, just makes me feel dumb for putting in effort.

Do strategy ppl find these tech implementation difficult?

Hi everyone! For those that feel comfortable, would love to see the breakdown AFC > eggs retrieved > fertilized > embryo > genetically normal (please feel free to include other steps, add in more numbers/details). I've read the averages of how it gets narrowed down, but always prefer hearing real breakdowns. I'm in the process of my first egg retrieval and trying to stay realistic. Really appreciate it!

MD or MBA? I got into both. I know most will say choose the MD, but hear me out: MD: I'd have to go into a specialty to have a good IRR given my salary & the $200K+ debt. By the time I'd be done with residency the US may be in a single payer system. US doctors make 3x the amount in France and 2x vs UK.. I currently make what a doctor makes in France. That could be the future here, too. MBA: 1 yr. Europe. I'd make about 15-20% more vs. now.
