Consulting work life balance #BeWellWorkWell
For anyone using Khan Academy and Canvas I made a free application built on a Google Spreadsheet that reads in Khan Academy CSV files and sends the scores to the Canvas gradebook. Demo video below and link to site. Hope it helps someone! The setup takes a bit but it has made grading Khan exercises so much easier and quicker.

If the company is happy with your performance, ride this out for as long as possible!

Gratitude.
What company is this đ

Iâm confused about what type of acknowledgement youâre looking for here.
- Pat on the back.
- âYou go, girl!â
- Youâve earned your promotion!
- âThatâs not fair to your colleagues or spouse.â
- Brisk mutual nod and we wonât talk about the elephant in the room.
Youâre doing good for yourself. Donât second guess it and take the W.
Lol Iâm not quite sure to be honest đŹ Is this okay? Am I nuts!
I am sure you deserve it! Nothing wrong with getting your work done efficiently!
On top of your promotion, I present you a âHero Momâ reward đ đđđ
Are you sure youâre not being preferred over colleagues who are minorities? Do you have a PT schedule? Or are you just efficient? I worked in a department where the supervisor only had eyes for the white attorney on the team who was part time and of course sheâs the only one who got promotions despite not killing it objectively.
This comment is ridiculous to me. Our company empowers and encourages diversity. Iâm a woman but not a minority. Iâm thankful to work for a company that is principled and not political. Performance is based on performance period. There are only 5 of us on the entire US recruiting team. Iâm pretty insulted you would ask to be honest.

You accomplishing more in a day (aka less hours) is nothing to feel guilty about. If anything youâre leading by example for your colleagues.

If youâre getting your work done and being efficient so that you can spend the rest of your time with your family, I donât see any issues. No need to feel guilty
I mean research shows that moms tend to be the most efficient and productive employees - more motivation not to lollygag at work.
The American work culture that treats long hours as a virtue in and of themselves is weird. Why the obsession on living in the office, regardless of how you're actually performing.

Being efficient shouldnât mean you have to take on more work. Take it as a gift.
Youâre paid to do a job not to work a certain number of hours. Are you guilty that your metrics arenât as good because you work less or are your metrics just as good? Because if theyâre just as good as everyone elseâs I think maybe they need to step it up or something.
Yes. Also Iâm the most senior person on the team by a lot. My team is extremely junior and I mentor a lot. I have 10+ years and most have 1-4 years. Iâm an SME and I get the hardest roles because I can handle them. I just donât work a million hours because I source and close very specialized roles. But I kill it.
I donât understand the question âAm I wrong?â
Why are you wrong? Working mothers that return to the workforce after maternity leave are often criticized so much. You work for a good company thatâs aware youâre part-time and rewarding you for your job performance. Why would you be in the wrong for anything?
Donât feel guilty because the company gave you the promotion as they saw fit. If your colleagues wanted that promotion, they would have risen to the challenge part-time or full-time.
They arenât actually aware I work 25-30 hours đŹ thatâs the only issue I have. I produce as if Iâm working 40.
I wouldnât feel guilty about it because youâre being more efficient so youâre getting your work done faster. However, if they are giving less work because they slowed recruiting and are about to do mass layoffsâŠ.that would be the concerning situation.
No layoffs at all! Iâm so fortunate! I also get the absolute hardest roles at the company and fill them quickly. Normally I get principal engineering, architect or specialist roles.
