I'm a project manager at a F100 working on my first project, and in the middle of kickoff and the final stages of the project, I literally don't have anything on my schedule. I just sit in front of Slack all day and reach out to the team to make sure they're connected with the resources they need, and communicate with the client team when needed. Is that it as a PM? Not sure if I'm bored or grateful with the lack of workload, and if this is a BS job or my role is adding value here.

Are all the work streams on track, within budget, keeping to original scope, and adequately resourced? Are all your risks logged with mitigation plans? Are all the interdependencies between initiatives understood and managed? Are you tracking benefit or value realization? Are executives aware of progress and ROI of the project? Is adoption of the changes fully managed? If you’re a third party consultant for a Big 4, are your internal working paper files all up to date and ready for audit or project close out?

If the answer to all of these is yes, you’re good. And once you’ve mastered being a PM, yes, it’s very boring. You might want to take on Program Management next or troubled project turnarounds.

If the answer to any of these is no or I don’t know, you should be very concerned and get on it.

Any particular segment of sales good for ex-finance? Currently 3 years in at fortune 100 bank on business development side (on commercial loan originations team but no commission/targets at the associate level, basically do credit analysis and build pitch books for the producers) This role has been great as I have gotten both analytical experience and tasted sales experience (I say taste bc I’m not the producer) but would potentially like to transition to a sales role that is less analytical

Currently working as a finance analyst II for a fortune 100 company in a corporate finance role. I have about 2 years of full-time experience. Any recommendations for exit ops?

Got the call today about promotion - super excited for this next leg. Also a bit nervous given performance expectations and the market right now. Hi everyone!

This isn’t really an interview question but more of an on-boarding question.
Bit of background- I left my job of 3 years in Dec 2021 for a new company. Initially, I thought the company was great but my mind quickly changed. The on-boarding process was horrible, minimal training, thrown onto enterprise project 2 weeks in, over time, and there is no process for anything. I ended up hating my job.

Fast forward to Mid March, I started applying for jobs again but I omitted this role.

Currently a Wealth Advisor for Citi but I honestly hate it here with a passion it’s the worst company I’ve ever worked for in my life and I’ve been in Wealth Management in the banking channel for over a decade. Series 7, Series 63, Life, CFP, ChFC, and soon to have my MBA with a focus in Mergers & Acquisitions. I’m look to enter another area of Finance at this point instead of starting over somewhere else from scratch, but not sure what direction to go. Interested in Investment Banking or M&A.
