I got a call from the Google recruiter about my L7 em interview Google She said I did overwhelmingly good on all interviews except one had mixed feedback on a system design. No surprise because it was not a good interview. The recruiter said i had a choice to go to hiring committee, give referrals they could call about my system design or take another system design interview. I’m not confident about the system design because of the bad experience I had with the previous interviewer. What should I do?
What's your experience working with United Way?
I’m in healthcare as well and looking to do something else. First you need to figure out what is it you want to transition to. There’s so much career pathways and lots of training to get you where you need to be. But first, which tech career you want? Look up tech careers and then decide which you want to learn.
What are you trying to get into within tech? E.g., do you want to use your PT background, or completely pivot and go into coding etc?
I would love to use my degree but I also was planning on taking some coding courses anyway because I figured that would be a valuable skill regardless. But as far as what direction to take that, I’m not sure.
I'm also in healthcare, but my significant other is working in tech since she is a computer science major. I've seen how she works and she tells me about her co-workers that entered the industry without any background in tech. It's not impossible I'm telling you. There are classes in Udemy where you can teach yourself tech. Consume as much information you can get, that's the only advice I can give
You can take a closer look at your connections on LinkedIn— I have recently seen job postings about healthcare apps looking for PTs to handle their ortho dept. But I believe they prefer those who have multiple licenses for other states as well
Sounds simple, but it worked for me. Do a search around your tech interests. What about tech do you like? Do a Google search for jobs that require those keywords (like tech design jobs, or app developer jobs)... then begin seeing what types of job titles pop up. Use those job titles as your research point. Look at job postings, see what skills, programs, etc keep showing up and then use that to hone in your interests as well as what additional training you might need.
