Being given more responsibility is literally the point of consulting

her way of teaching you.
this is a good situation if she actually gives you support when you go back to her
Would you prefer to be told to bring coffee and Format the appendix instead?
This is awesome! She is definitely teaching you. She knows that if she makes you the point person you’ll learn how to think on your feet, communicate effectively, and make decisions. You’ll also quickly learn how and when you need to escalate or ask for help.
She sounds like a great leader. I’m sure this is intimidating, but you can totally do this. Plus, she’s made herself available for support.
If you haven’t already, I would schedule regular check-ins with her. Once a week should suffice unless this is particularly fast-paced. Set up a simple structure - if it’s a 30 minute meeting, allocate 5 - 10 minutes for key updates on what you’ve done the past week and what you’re doing the next, and then the balance of time for questions and concerns. (I assume) she’ll want to focus on clearing roadblocks for you and clarifying things to help you be effective.
Good luck!

Sounds like you’ve got a great manager. Don’t be afraid to tell her if you’re overwhelmed. I think she’d understand and help you get past that.
This was the best thing that happened to me as a new analyst. Kill it at your job, but make use of your project manager to make sure you're not overwhelmed.
To be honest you sound like a cry baby...this is a job, you do the work you are given. There are a bunch of people who would be grateful for the opportunity instead of whining.
This is excellent especially her saying she wants people to go to you first and she’ll back you up. This is how you get visibility and build a reputation and credibility, vs her always being in front and you lurking behind.
I’m sure this is a lot to take in, but at GT (and I’m guessing at other firms), Managers’ jobs are to win work and make sure the house doesn’t burn down in their project; as a consultant, you run the show - the only reason you should ever consider not helping manage the project (or ask to put it on hold) is if doing the budget, forecast, staffing, etc. is impeding your ability to solve client problems
This is how you build your resume. It will fast track you if you can take on senior responsibilities as a staff. Have a good attitude and predict the next step when you can. The challenge, if handled well, will pay off.
😒 this generation is screwed

What generation are you part of?
Embrace it!
As my favorite MD told me once, the best way to learn is baptism by drowning. You either come out stronger than before or realize this profession may not be for you.

You’re not being taken advantage of, but it’s also not necessarily to teach you. Likely she feels this will make it easier for her to work/allow her more free time.
Regardless, this will be a good thing for you if you do well, and a bad thing for you if you do poorly. Simple as that. All that matters for you is what’s written in this paragraph, the prior is for funsies.
She means well and is grooming you for the next level. That sucks now because you’ll have to do the work regardless and you’ll either not get promoted or get promoted with little to no raise thanks to covid.
It normal times and/or if you plan to stay at your firm long-term it would be great but if you’re leaving soon the resume difference is minimal and extra responsibility will just make your life way more stressful.
Sometimes you need to thrown into the fire to grow! She sounds supportive and hopefully won’t leave you out to dry. Try your best and ask questions. You got this!!!
the expectation is always able to take up the role of next rank, in our firm managers might be sharing directors’ load sometimes
