I’m a sales consultant with 5 years in car sales and 1 in real estate. I want to get into tech sales but don’t have the background. I’ve done some research on some certifications, but there are so many I’m not sure where to start. Is getting an IT recruiter position a good place to start? What are some other options?

Senior AE here with just under 5 years in the industry. I’m looking to move out of selling and into a sales engineer role. My current OTE is 205k, 115k Base with 90k variable. I understand that I’ll be taking a bit of a pay cut moving into a sales engineer role. I just interviewed for a Senior Sales Engineer role and their offer is 140k base + 20% bonus ($28k) + some amount of company stock (company is pre-IPO). Does this sound in line with other companies?
