I’m a second year analyst and am considering switching careers to nursing. I don’t think I enjoy consulting, and nursing seems like a much more tangible way to support the community. I’m still young in my career, so if I need to make the jump, I want it to be soon. Thoughts?

Where can you find internships for professionals?

Always in demand with a lot of opportunities to specialize and advance, and really help people. Be ready- new nurses often have to work the undesirable units/shifts. Think ICU, over night, travel, etc

Honestly leave as soon as you can get into a program or get into classes to finish some prerequisites. You can see if you can take some courses online now and see if they’re transferable, but it’s very late for fall semester. In this time, save up a bunch of money for the next few months to be ready for school

It sounds like you should maybe take some more time to think z about what you want. Both jobs have their ups and downs. What I always tell people who haven't figured out what to do is: - look in your past: What was the thing you were good at? What did you like? Where did you get good grades? Are you more analytical or more socially interested? - look into your present: What is it you like about your job. What is it you don't like. Can you improve the situation you don't like or is that not possible. If it's not possible start talking to friends and family who know you and who are critical thinkers - look into your future: What are your Goals for the future. Do you want a family? What are your financial goals? I have these talks with the friends I trust and who are themselves in a career. They tell you the honest truth without sugar-coating it. Hope that helps

How do you all handle stress at work? I’m on a though project and feeling sort of hung out to figure it all myself. My stomach is in knots and I’m waking up in the middle of the night thinking about the case.

Wild that conservatives think they're on the right side of history after supporting officials who let tens of thousands die needlessly and will now try to take away people's healthcare.

How tough is it to lateral to a larger bank, or to exit into corp dev/strategy at a "large cap" company at the VP-ish level? I'm currently in IB at a smaller MM bank, but kind of trapped until I get my green card which obviously will be a few years. I don't hate my bank/team but I do feel limited by the bank (since obviously reputation/size dictates the deals the bank can win)

I’m a 2nd year and effectively just ran a deal on my own with the partner. It ran smoothly, I got praise from the partner, and the partner said that they trust me to do most stuff without their sign off (so no need to check with them in future unless I’m really unsure). Generally there is one or two mid levels above me, and I find it way harder to do my job when they are managing me. They like to keep me on the bench, get me to do minor tasks and don’t let me take responsibility and ownership.

I made limited EQ partner in 2019 . This week I was told I’m getting moved to counsel effective Jan 1. My hours were negatively impacted in 2019 by an ill parent (only child) and in 2020 multiple clients said pencils down for half the year (& additional family illness & a death), + kids. I know nothing about the counsel role. What terms/arrangements have people negotiated? I don’t know what negotiation ability I’ll have, but wanted to be better informed.
