I'm a second year at a V30 firm in an energy regulatory practice. I do some litigation, some regulatory compliance/deal advising, and some purely transactional work (energy projects).

If I want to go in-house in the next few years, should I focus on one of these skill sets or is it better to be more of a generalist? If I should focus on one skill set, which one makes me most marketable?

Thank you!

Best to have a variety of experience so you can apply to more in-house jobs in the future. It’s a numbers game.

If I have 50% time in lit and 50% time in corp, will companies not prefer someone who is 100% in either when they want to fill a lit/corp role? Or does it not work like that?

Focus on the transactional work for the best shot at in-house roles as a mid-level associate.

Thanks Marion!

I'm in my 2nd week with Deloitte and things just seem a bit off. I've left my resource manager 2 emails , no response from him. Not been assigned a coach or an onboarding advisor yet .Is this normal ? Who helps me get assigned to a project ? When does the process start ? I can't be just sitting and doing nothing. What am I supposed to charge hours to this week ? I've gotten no guidance on that.

Interested to know average salaries
of an Assistant Manager in
Purchasing (London based).
I was promoted from Supervisor to
Assistant Manager within the last
month, prior to my previous

second promotion in just under a

salary I feel undervalued and
demotivated (I'm on just over £30k

negotiate my salary were shot down.
Any advice would be welcomed.
