I’m a second year Senior Associate in tax and have 5 years experience in my group. Could I get a Manager position by switching jobs? Or am I too inexperienced?

5 years is good enough for Manager but generally when you move they are hesitant to make you manager if you already are not, so they might ask you to be senior for 6 months or whatever cycle they follow. Just what I’ve seen.

I’ve been activity looking for new paralegal roles but my last position was working in the public sector. Some have told me that it’s a pro, others have said that it’s a con. I’m largely applying for positions in the private sector now, and I’ve found that I don’t have many of the entry level skills like e-filing that employers expect. Is there any alternative to taking on a role that is completely entry-level to gain those?

Any Release Management folks here? Need referral.

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks

This is for my friend. Trying to help her.

"I recently joined cognizant as an architect after 10+ years at tcs and was immediately put on project since one person left . There was not much in terms of KT and I feel lot of pressure now. Should I try learning things on my own and take up responsibilities or ask for release or start searching for a new job? I think searching a new job I may land in similar situation. Please advise."

Am I being paid enough in Boston?

I have 7yrs of Business Analyst experience playing product/operations/project manager/test lead roles. I also have 2 master’s degree (MBA & MSIT). With a recent acquisition/inflation, I got moved to a tech team and now making $125k + 20% bonus.

Looking for advancements or career change next year.

Do I take a job at a more boring company that’s a 41% pay increase and comes with 1% equity?

Current company: a fun and exciting fintech startup that’s about to raise a Seed/Series A. Possible to be promoted in the next year with a pay bump (still likely not as much as the job offer)

Potential company: A marketplace that sells used phones online and has been profitable for 5+ years.
