I’m a senior and was told high performers can expect 8-11% raises every year as a senior and I have been counting on that. Do you think that will be impacted? If so by how much

Just be happy you will still have a job. Expect 0% and think of anything in excess of that as cake for this year.

Then you’re not happy. Life’s too short. If it’s worth complaining about, do something about it. If it’s not worth doing something about, don’t complain about it. Unless you’re really saying you are happy being unsatisfied... which doesn’t Alere sense.

The 8-11% is under the assumption that the economy/company is performing well. Don’t count your chickens before they hatch…

Firms get away with overworking because we are in a highly seasonal & competitive industry. If you don’t like getting worked like a dog, unionize. If you do that, don’t whine about not becoming a partner.

Those around in the recession have told me that they considered keeping their job to be their raise. I think you should have a similar mindset.

I’d be a little more thankful if we weren’t working 1.5 jobs considering hours of 40 and UTL.

You put your comp out there and you’d have a line of people willing to do twice as much for half. If you want to work less and get that much more and it’s worth it then go for it. Don’t be a victim.

Be thankful you have a job. Going through 08/09 recession, i dont think i saw an increase and bonus for 2 years. There was a period that 401k matching was frozen too.

A high performer wouldn’t ask this question.

So you’re saying that the thing I said is a fair question to ask is in fact a fair question to ask? Not really sure what we’re going back and forth about then

You can’t EVER count on a raise as a sure thing. Or being labeled as a high performer. When your group doesn’t have the budget to give everyone raises that they deserve, they make up reasons you don’t deserve them and then they gas light you into thinking that you’re the reason you didn’t get the raise 😂

Honestly, have very measured expectations. I’m sure the firm will try to give some raises out; but it’s going to be a very bad year. Hopefully the damage will be limited to this fiscal year and won’t roll into the next... however if this triggers a recession it’s possible to be a lean few years. Sorry. I’m with you. Was expecting a great raise this year... I’m dramatically underpaid... but it is what it is. Let’s hope the economy rebounds very quickly.

Expect zero this year. Maybe you’ll get a token raise but that’s probably it.

You are a participant in a labor market where the cost of labor fluctuates. This is a great time to keep your eyes open to the opportunities that arise due to the current upheaval and put yourself in the middle of the disruption.

Expect nothing this year and let this train your mind to always view bonuses as extras. So many people spend it before they’ve even earned it.

You need a reality check. Your immediate future is no bonus and pay cuts so people can keep healthcare coverage. PA as an industry has no cash reserve. Suck it up.

Yes to the OP. KPMG 15, you should want whatever will give you more money for having to work next year and will also keep you off the potential chopping block. Those who aren’t promoted with their classes are usually the first to go should push come to shove.

What group are you in that you’re expecting 8% to 11% raises year over year for high performers? Also, what market? Def not audit I am assuming

You should hope it's small, meaning that you were overpaid this year.

That’s like saying I bought a mutual find that’s averaged 9% so do you think it will go down in a down year?

Be frugal and happy your job isn’t impacted. more things at stake in the world to Be solely worried about your pay raise.

I would expect very little in the way of an increase this year based on experience with the last recession. The expected ranges assume revenue growth and we won't have much if any of that this year.

Reaction Icon Like

It’s also based on labor market. In 08/09 comp bands went down. So staying the same was still moving up in pay band.

Best you can expect is a cost of living adjustment. So like 1-2.5%.
