Hello RSM coworkers! I am thrilled to be moving to RSM into a Scheduler roll. I just found out yesterday and want to be as prepared as possible in the next steps.
So here are my questions.
How long does the background study take? I'm guessing admin staff have a study that is faster and less complicated than someone in Tax ect.
When training at home what did you need that wasn't supplied by RSM? My home office is well stocked but I want to be as prepared as possible.
Thanks in advance!

I’ve always been warned not to go into compliance if you would want to go back to being in a legal role. It’s not the practice of law and it can definitely result in you facing difficulties down the line. That said, there are plenty of other benefits to being in a compliance role and I’ve heard the WLB is much better.
What if I’m able to negotiate a title that sounds more legal like director of compliance and senior regulatory counsel or something like that? Do you think that might help keep the door for legal roles open? In practice I’ll be doing a bit of everything.
What motivates your move? If the ultimate goal is to return as a partner in biglaw then it can be a risky move even if it's a valuable client. But if partnership's not on the horizon or in your interests then it might be a great long term fit, better WLB and you might be able to pivot into other business areas too down the line.
I’m not really interested in partnership but would like to have the option to move back into more purely legal roles, like senior counsel, AGC or eventually GC down the road. I may love compliance and never look back but I want to make sure I don’t close any doors if I want to go for a legal role in the future.
