Hi Fishers, I want to pivot my career into management consultant. I am currently working as a Market research analyst with 1 YOE. Can someone please suggest me how or where should I start to build my career in management consulting at Big 4.
Also, please suggest entry level jobs that I will be eligible for with skills in Strategy, primary and secondary research, and competitor analysis.
Thanks in advance!

Heading into busy season like
If you are starting as an Audit Associate some time from now with Deloitte or any of the big 4, do they expect you to have passed/completed all 4 parts by the time you start? Received the Becker Reimbursement email from the recruiter not too long ago but have yet to start. I’ve seen plenty of people get to Senior at a big 4 firm without the CPA so I am a bit confused in that aspect. Any helpful feedback will be very much appreciated.

Go get it. It’ll get a lot harder when you become a manager or above to try something outside the accounting circle. A lot of ppl would call me crazy, but this is just my opinion: I do firmly believe a big part of what we do in finance will be automated. My own reason? I’m seeing it happening at my work while a lot of colleagues are still playing catch up game on using analytics tools. Having a programming or data management mindset has been very helpful to my career
Do it! And congratulations! Worst case scenario, you return to FDD if it doesn’t work out. I don’t that will be case, though.
My brother works in Comp sci and his hours are hilariously better for about the same pay. Both careers are what you make of it but with a FDD background and a comp sci masters (idk how good the program is though), you might still have the door open for many things in both finance and computer science. I would expect managing other computer science types would be easy with the background you have compared to others in that industry without prior experience leading others.
Go get it and I’m so happy for u! Tech generally has much better life style, culture and pay. Don’t come back unless you really hates CS.
I have the computer science degree and how I wish I also had more of a financially technical background! From my point of view, you would have that much more to offer. Congratulations and best of luck!
Thanks. If you could do it again, would you choose finance instead of CS? I asked myself that question and I thought I might have been happier if I chose CS in undergrad. Maybe the grass is not always greener. Just curious what you meant by you would have much more to offer?
What are you trying to do after you finish the program? I’m in FDD too, now that you brought this up I’m also interested
I’m thinking of following a path to become a machine learning engineer or technical project manager of a tech company. Another potential path is to become a data scientist. There are quite a few career paths but I really need to figure out what will be best given my background.
You only need and can have 1 career. If you truly enjoy programming, go for it, but if you're seeking a better job, it might not be worth the investments.
