I’m a Tax Senior at a Mid Tier Firm and I’m looking to leave before the 2022 Busy Season. I’m really struggling with what positions to look for or what I would be qualified to do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I’m open to either tax or accounting positions.

Well to start, what do you want to do? If it's in the realm of tax or accounting, there's nothing wrong with applying.

Obviously you may be less qualified for certain roles (I'm not sure exactly what type of tax you do, but typically tax leads to... more tax). In those cases you will need to learn additional skills on your own and utilize your network.

Is the promotional structure in Big 4 TAS/FDD similar to how it is in Big 4 Audit? E.g. 2 yrs at associate, 2-3 yrs at senior, etc?
Or is it more merit based where you’re promoted when ready, e.g. 1-1.5 yrs at associate, 1.5-2 yrs at senior, etc?
If the latter, what’s the fastest you’ve seen someone get promoted and at which levels? Thanks

Help! I have a hot mid 30’s female manager in the med device space. She been a manager for a year and just got promoted to a director. She’s fun to be around and could be considered “one of the bros.” It’s clear that I don’t have as good of a relationship with her as my other female colleagues have. I know this because of my rather infrequent contact with her compared to female colleagues who “talk shop” daily. Secondly, I’m always finding out inside info about promotions, drama etc…Continued!

Had a few job offers on the table from CPG and Tech (non-FAANG) companies for Senior Analyst type roles.

Without negotiating it seems like Tech pays more, is that true? Or can I still negotiate more with CPG companies?

Those who switched from audit to fp&a - could you provide any tips on how to tailor the resume to get interviews? I’m a senior at B4 with CPA and have applied 90+ companies but no interviews yet. In my resume I highlighted my experience in reviewing budget to actual variances, forecast models, valuation reports, using excel, etc., which I think is relevant to fp&a. How should I further polish my resume to increase my chances of getting interviews? TIA!

I have two years of audit experience and passed the CPA awaiting license now. How much should I target for base salary and bonus % for any accounting/finance related roles roles in NYC? I am leaning more towards remote roles.

This might have been already asked so apologies in advance, but has anyone gone back to public/advisory from industry? I know there are a lot of boomerangs out there but I mean more specifically advisory or due diligence? Currently in Assurance and want to experience private industry as either a Senior Accountant or SEC reporting role but don’t want to shut myself from these other opportunities? Or should I persue advisory first and then private accounting if it doesn’t seem like a good fit?

Have the bigger than normal raises that B4 are giving this year affecting salaries in industry? I would think that if B4 salaries increase industry would have to pay more to get people to leave.

Thoughts on leaving public to go to a $200M plastic packaging company for an accounting manager position? They make plastic containers for food, medical retail, etc. Would be about a 30% raise, but less PTO and flexibility. 45 hours per week Oct-March then 40 or less the rest of the year.

Is 90k and a 5k sign on bonus reasonable (high, low?) for a senior with 3 years of experience to move firms in an HCOL city?
