Learn SQL. I suspect the harder part is getting the chance. However, if you have the right personal attributes, you should be able to find a route.

That's a bit weird...

It sounds like you've said that you've done the role, maybe not all at once, but the individual pieces.

I feel like the next step is to workshop a resume to make sure you get past auto-rejects. Maybe also to add on a cover letter.

Very easy to switch from technical writing to business analysis. Train yourself online with free courses then look for entry level jobs in insurance. Do your time there and then make the switch to tech roles for an immediate 60%+ pay rise.

I am trying to get out on Contract Negotiations and get into strategy consulting but recently got invited to apply for a Contract negotiation position at a sustainability consulting firm by a head hunter. This position is with a fast growing start up and would allow for great career growth, experience, and over 100k in salary (only make $70k now). Any advice on how to weigh these very different opportunities?

Was initially targeting to leave consulting for a tech S&O role in Nov/Dec of this year (awaiting last grad school reimbursement). I generally want a good WLB role with no travel required. However talk on here about hiring freezes and the impending recession makes me think it’s not worth starting the job search. But then I’m worried if I wait too long I’ll get ‘stuck’ in consulting for a while. Should I start the job search now or wait another year?
