I’m a working mom and looking to make a change but don’t know what direction to turn. Willing to work hard but I’m currently in retail and want out, I need more structure and stability, I also think I’m being underpaid for what I do and being with this company a year shy of a decade. I like being in management/leadership but I don’t know what to consider. Suggestions or advice? Realistic salary expectations for a district manager?

If you want answers on here you need to provide more details. Are you looking to completely change careers or just industries? Where are you located? How much experience do you have? What are your transferable skills and professional interests?

Salaries are incredibly variable. Just go to a site like payscale.com.

I guess I probably should also include I’m in retail sales, and by structure I’m hoping to find a more Monday through Friday type of career.

At face value, corporate retail seems like a reasonable route. I know there are several retail corporates headquartered in Ohio (maybe you’ve looked into these already).

Thank you, I listed a bit more above in response to a comment if that helps give more direction.

Not sure if you're looking for something more flexible or even to help in the meantime while you transition into something else but I work in the e-commerce space very part time. It’s not very structured (more flexible) and completely remote but I create my own structures after I work my 9-5. I've made on average $2000 a month since I started 14 months ago (on top of working my 9-5). Would be happy to share more if you're interested. ☺️

You might be a great fit for purchasing or space planning/merchandising. Something to do with retail but on the fringes. You have a lot of experience and retail knowledge.

I have my annual review next week. Starting my 7th year at the current job. 13+ years in the field. But my current company is a nonprofit. They are great. But annual raise has always been 2%. Does anyone have any advise?

Worked with a company for 15 years was at the ceiling for my position decided to leave. Why would you leave a company after 15 years?

Hi all! What are the differences between senior/staff SWE and software architects? Are architects still a thing? I'm causally searching for a new position (my job had a 50% layoff last month and the survivability of the company is sketchy) and I've noticed senior and staff SWE roles sound like they have a lot of architectural designing and leadership responsibilities while not focusing on coding as much. Is this normal? I love mentoring, but I also don't wanna be in meetings all day. 😕
