I have been with a mid-size firm in tax and business consulting for the past four years. I really love what I do but find myself searching for opportunities with the Big 4. Have any of you made this kind of transition and, if so, how is it working out for you? I know every practice area/office has its own nuances but I’m starting to feel like I could be doing more with my career.
Just received an offer from another big 4 firm that was substantially less than I currently make (more than 10%). Do you guys think it is worth negotiating or should I just pass on it?
Anyone who renege and get any backlash? I signed an offer with a big 4 for full time and am still interviewing with other companies. ( Was an intern last summer and my offer got pushed out to summer cause my masters is 1.5 years and I graduate in December (In my defense the big 4 refused to let me go to another practice.) Plus pressured by parents to accept something before I graduate.
What does a manager with 8-10 years in Big 4 consulting experience (5-6 years in FSI) make in the market today?
When you put your 2 week notice in at the Big 4 as a staff level will you be shown the door immediately? If so, will you get paid?
Anyone who transferred to Deloitte Consulting from another Big 4 Tax? I heard Deloitte has a big M&A tax group
Is it normal for teams to lose it on each other on a regular basis? I’m fairly new to the B4 and never experienced it at former firms. It starts at the top and it’s starting to take a toll on my performance. Not sure if I need to suck it up and deal with it or start thinking about changing teams. TIA
Hey Fishes, trying to benchmark my salary here… senior associate, advisory, tier 2 city, big 4, 7 yoe in consulting, although less in the current community. What would be a good range?
Anyone have experiencing switching firms within Big 4, where you had a good situation and left a really strong network behind? Do you have regrets?
Does everyone who joins Big 4 have a 2 years and done mindset or just me? I feel like I just joined Kentucky and enjoying the ride until draft day.
Anyone know what a Structured Finance Analyst / Senior makes at Big 4? Specifically NYC? Can’t find much info
In Tech at D. Over my past 4 projects they seem to really burn us into the ground overwork us. Is that just my bad experience? Other Big 4 have a similar issue?
How do the pension benefits work for partners/principals at the big 4? Can anyone share details on vesting rules or calculations? I assume it varies from firm to firm…just wanting to understand the difference with what Accenture offers MD’s (401k, VEIP).
Please be kind, genuinely looking for help. Started my Grad School journey and really want an idea of the quality of school I can realistically aim for. My profile: M / 27 / AA 3.1 GPA Frm a State university 6 YOE (3 in Big 4 Consulting) Active in community Prez of a few orgs Frm Chicago 100% open to relocate 1st practice GRE: 304 (151- V / 153 Q) Looking to pursue a tech mgmt concentration.
How difficult is it to be counseled out at Big 4 firms? Is it common or do you really have to mess up? Are any of the firms more cutthroat than the others?
Quick scenario: If I have a consulting offer from a different Big 4 that has a start date post-10/15, so that in theory I would not have to submit a 2 weeks notice until post-10/1 (bonus payout date) but I sign the offer pre-9/30, am I obligated (looking for both legal & professional standpoint) to tell PwC because it is with a competitor? This is essentially the exact same group at the other big 4
For folks exiting to FAANG / Product at start ups or really any hot company. How do you go about networking to get the interview? Do you apply then cold email someone you may have an “in”with, or are you picking say 10 companies and then having warm contacts there that you’ll ping when you see a job. I’ve been passively looking for jobs but zero luck, I only want to leave for the right fit. Big 4 here so feel my brand won’t auto get me an interview like mbb/t2
Hi fishes - I’m with an MBB as a 2y Partner looking to move to B4, for a bunch of reasons. In active conversations with two of them. While compensation levels seem similar for now, the other posts on this bowl suggest we end up making more at B4 than MBB. (Referring to the 1.5M number of a y4 partner at b4). What is the real trajectory that people here have seen at B4? And how much of that is bonus - base - other components?
Pros/cons of going from a big 4 firm to a national, regional or advisory specific firm at a higher level? Is it worth it?
Since covid started I’ve been working with a team of doctors and scientists to develop a self contained rapid antigen test. Trials run by the cdc and NY health and hospitals have shown it’s as reliable as a pcr test but results come back in 15 min. We are looking to get the test into the market by the holidays but are in need of capital. Does anyone here have access to family offices or something similar?
What do you think of Facebook's UI?
My former firm lost a multimillion arb in a case I was handling prior to my departure. I recommended against trying the case, but still find myself oddly plagued with guilt for the client. Anyone experience something similar?
Which among the FAANG has the best work culture
When it takes you two weeks of working to catch up from one week of vacation...seems like it should be the other way around ☠️
I've been out of accounting for about 2 years because I decided to move to another country for life experiences. I will be moving back mid 2022 with my fiance and will go back to Audit most likely. My firm said they would gladly take me back when I left. If i was making 65k as a senior 2 years ago is it reasonable to ask for 72k and a 10k signing bonus even with a 2 year break? Would it be more reasonable if I went to a different firm instead? How much do you think is reasonable?
I have a job, and I’m grateful that I do! But it makes me extremely unhappy. I’m talked down to constantly, our client treats us like we’re dumb and they have no trust for the creative team, and I’m constantly anxious. How do I find a new gig during these (forgive me for saying this) unprecedented times? Or what do I do/say if I want to switch accounts within my agency? I need some advice from other women who’ve been through this and succeeded at finding something that makes them happier.
Why are you in agencies? What are the benefits of being in an agency over clients/media partners side? Trying to find a new motivation to continue staying in this industry..
Strategy and implementation role (omni channel design) versus functional ownership (procurement and planning). How to think about pros and cons?
Hello everyone. I am in the process of applying for green card for my dad. He is in his 70s. Key question I have is: what are his options when it comes to insurance when he gets the green card. Any comments from anyone with experience would be appreciated.
I work in a Rep Services Call Center for an Insurance/ Investment Company. Currently I'm pursuing my MBA at Western Governors University and I plan to get my Series 7 after my MBA so I can get out of the Call Center and advance my career. I'm looking for some advice / guidance/ideas for growth opportunities from here. I'd like to hear about good experiences and bad experiences people have had in this industry, where did you start, how did you grow from there, what licenses do you have, ect.
Did anyone ever get or know of someone who got a doordash s&o role? Reminiscing on the 8 interviews and 10 hour case I did for them over 2 months timeline just to get turned away saying ‘not a good fit right now’
In case you never got to see the New York Times article about air quality in classrooms, I’m posting it here for you. It makes some very important points about creating the safest possible environment for students and teachers. 1. Open windows if it all possible 2. Place air purifier centrally 3. Don’t place fans in a way where the air is pointed at people Have a great year and keep yourself and your students safe! https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/02/26/science/reopen-schools-safety-ventilation.html

Going to Cabo in April with my husband! Looking to do more adventure travel, but also take advantage of all these Bonvoy points I have. Anyone have any recs for great properties there?
Can anyone help with salary slabs for consulting in Dubai (big 4) - senior manager and director? Base + variable.
Hey Ladies - my fiancé is trying to move to Boston or New York in the next few months, but his field is pretty niche in finance (long only investing). He works at a mutual fund in Chicago, and has been putting feelers out. We both feel that more postings will open up in January, but if anyone has some insight on recent job openings that might be a good fit, I’d love to know so I can point him that way. A chance to connect him with someone would also be extremely helpful! Long distance is hard.
Any travel tips for Halloween in New Orleans? Looking to stay at a Marriott brand on or around Bourbon street.
Clients spent 20 minutes during the middle of a meeting to shit on BCG for getting them laid off from their previous jobs. How's it feel to be the Bobs?
