A good planner, tons of pencils & a good pencil sharpener! Don't go too overboard in buying all the things (I know I did!). Wait until you get into your room/school, see what they provide you with and really think about if you're going to utilize the things you're purchasing. & Thrift stores are your best friend! I've gotten so many amazing finds (furniture, desk supplies, games, books, etc.) from local thrift shops and flea markets! Good luck in your first year!
A solid set of procedures for everything. It’s above all “things”, or you will never get to real learning
Spend the first week or two creating and teaching and modeling your procedures. The year will be so much easier when the kiddos know what is expected for every single thing. How to get a new pencil. Where the trash is. When can I use the restroom. Etc
If you teach low income and have a free teacher store, like Crayons to Computers, they have everything.
Structure, Lots of structure! And post it notes, a good pencil sharpener, paper clips, dry erase markers (a ton) and aleeve.
