Your firm may have a policy where you have to be employed on the date the bonus is issued. While common in my experience, I’d check your company policy to confirm. Delaying your exit may be your best bet to receive the bonus.
Agree - don’t give notice until the check hits. At many firms, once you give notice, you are no longer in “good standing” or eligible for payment of a bonus. As soon as it hits, click send on that email.
They are going to avoid paying you that bonus if at all possible, as everyone above said I wouldn’t give notice until you receive it.

Agree 100% delay your notice until after check hits. Otherwise the firm will likely respectfully advise you that they do not need the full notice period and wish you well without paying you a dime.

Always delay notice until after you receive your bonus. It’s really common for several associates to give notice the day the check hits their account.

Always always wait till u receive the bonus. Because even though it's for work done in the past, they still try to withhold it for some reason
I’m in this exact same position. I think I need to start in two weeks, so probably going to have to leave my bonus behind.
If your bonus is “significant” and/or you just want to collect it, wait to give notice until you receive your bonus. Try to delay employment with your new firm. In the future if ever faced with this situation again, wait or try to negotiate with the new firm at least some of the bonus you are jeopardizing.
Yep. And the new firm should understand that you don’t want to forfeit the bonus. They’d mostly likely rather your current firm pay it to you instead of them picking up the tab themselves
