Privilege at its finest. Maybe it was easy for you due to your circumstances, but some people sacrifice a lot to get to where they are. I think you forgot all the schooling involved, debt, and part time jobs during school people hold to get here. I can already tell by this post you are insecure about your role and as a person, looking at others below you. Might want to get a reality check sooner rather than later lol

Lol M1, we all have learning to do, such is life. Start a book club. And my comment on the koolaid isn’t rudeness, it’s concern, deep concern, D does the most when it comes to indoctrination and I want my people to be free
OP - getting into Deloitte is not hard (though you’re in GPS so it’s even easier - Deloitte monitor and many other groups are not as easy). BUT, succeeding at Deloitte, climbing the ladder, making PPMD and thereby unlocking a comfy upper middle class muscle is what’s hard. Yea it’s not big deal to get in but it’s hard to make partner where the carrot lies.
Think of big 4 like a large well known public university where you have many average folks but the ones that come out on top get the same jobs as as many in ivy league
Especially if ur a black male 🤷🏾♂️
In this bubble you have no idea what the real world is like.
I live in Ohio and when I tried to get off the road from McKinsey most HR here asked me what type of work they do.
I worked at Deloitte for many years and I'm well aware its diverse. I'm HCOL Californian, but these experiences were in MCOL Texas and LCOL Florida. So not sure how well versed outsiders are on the diversity in the firm. It's not about who's inside. It's about who outsiders think is inside.
As a former Deloittian and having also worked my way around most of the brand name firms over the course of my career, I'd go a step further and say OP's point holds true for consulting in general, not just Deloitte

So true MD1.
I’ve been doing this for too many decades and it’s the same across all firms.
Low performers are weeded out. Top performers move on to greater things. And the middle is what remains.
If you think people at Deloitte are unimpressive, move into industry. You will realize that even the “worst” performers are high performers comparatively.
D11 I kicked a Deloitte team off my project cause they were so shit lol (I've moved back to industry).
In fact the local Deloitte tech team hired all the worst people I was trying to get rid of from my old firm, and tried to sell them back to me in my industry role. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Are you in GPS or USDC?
Savage question. Didn’t even say advisory lol
Self-burn. Respect. Don’t see many of those anymore.
Don't agree at all. At my school, a non-target, non-ivy university, only four people in our year were offered for Consulting out of a few hundred applicants. OP probably went to Princeton and doesn't understand what the other 99% of the world is like. It took a lot to get my job. High GPA, leadership on campus, interview prep and false case studies and i still cant believe i got it (althought that was some years ago). Get some perspective. B4 and FAANG don't even LOOK for people at most universities.
Well said D18. Same here. I went to a top 25 full time MBA and couldn't even apply to certain firms if I wanted to.

yeah but deloitte is harder to get into than harvard. must mean you’re a pretty smart cookie
Agreed, Deloitte and everyone there is weak
Agreed. You can get away with almost anything at these consulting firms. I’ve been billable for years and I genuinely don’t know how.
Tbh I think across the big 4 the flood gates have opened 👀
Sounds like some Georgetown bro wrote this.
Here in DC there’s a running list of memes about what dating dudes who work at Deloitte is like.
And it ain’t good…. So yea. There’s that reputation.
Who hurt you? Imma ping him…
Lol
I mean isn’t consulting in general largely a scam? I call it selling 20% substance, 80% fluff.
Deloitte is average and Guidehouse is way below average.
wait what?? lol
Probably because you work in GPS and have a mediocre role.

Yesem. DM!
My exact sentiments OP! I have been here for 8 years. It is an okay company. The only reason I am stuck is dumb visa issues. I have made some life long friends but some of the smartest and fun people usually leave.
