I’m almost finished with my bachelors in healthcare management. I’m currently a Certified medical assistant. It’s weird but I don’t want to be a manager of a practice but I want to work higher than a MA. Where could I start?

Let me know if you find out, I’m in a similar boat. Finished my BS Healthcare Management last year and working on my MBA now and working as a CMA as well

I’m 25, have my bachelors in healthcare Administration and used to be a MA in college but now manage medical practices.

Honestly, you’re in a tough spot. Leadership and managing people is really how you advance in healthcare. I’d suggest trying nursing leadership at a larger health system, or perhaps using your degree to purse long term care administration. Old people are great, long term care pays very well very early. You can make $75k+ your first 3 years and $125k+ with 5 years experience. I think it’s a great combination of clinical, but admin.

That’s amazing. So basically start in long term care administration like a nursing/assisted living home?

I am in the same situation. I have been a CMA for 5 years and there is no room for growth in my company at this point. I love my job and make $20.00 per hour. But it is not enough money to live in Austin Tx

What type of job? Point me in the right direction. I’ve been a CMA for 10 years making less than $20.

Any Bridge Engineers/Structural Engineers in here? I got my PE this year and have 5 YOE in TX + an MS. What sort of raise would you expect for receiving your PE working in a consulting firm? I am EOR on a number of structures in development, I manage EITs and Drafters (within projects; I'm not a supervisor), and am doing a lot in general. I'm at 78k currently, which is apparently still in the upper range of EIT salaries per a job posting in CO. I'm thinking of 15% (5% merit, 10% PE). Any ideas?

I have a new employee that started last Monday, unfortunately it’s not going to work out. Long story, but we’re fairly certain the individual is using Meth and appears to have started/restarted fairly recently. I work with physicians, so it’s a consensus. We have to terminate employment, but what ethical obligation do we have? Two young children at home and no spouse. This is weighing heavily on us.

Hello everyone, I have posted before about a situation I am in with a potential employer. I received an offer from a hospital, I accepted it with the director, signed some paperwork for a background check and sent it back. It has been 3 weeks so far, the person I spoke to said HR should’ve sent me consent forms already, I’ve dug through my email and found nothing, I’ve reached out to HR as well but they won’t speak to me since I am not an employee. What do I do? I’m stuck in limbo.

Interviews need to be monitored and recorded. I can’t tell you how many disappointed dreams I have been sold. It is a complete waste of time to really wait around to be wishful of a call. Gathering up 10 potential applicants to narrow it down to a top 3 and only make one offer is not acceptable. Much like jury duty, applicants should be compensated for their time.
