I’m so sorry you’re going through that. Our district has policy for “emergency days” if w retest positive so that we are not using our own time but also not forced to work or stay home without pay. What a really crappy situation, I really empathize with you. I’m sorry I don’t have more to offer you that my empathy. I hope everyone situation gets better soon rather than later.♥️
This varies by State. Check your State’s website for COVID related paid leave. Godspeed for a quick and easy recovery and thank you for your service to our neediest kiddos.
Thank you for your thanks
Our district is so in need of aides that none are being disciplined for poor attendance. Good luck.
Our district allows up to 10 days coverage for covid absences (only employees, doesn’t cover caring for own children who are positive). While my students don’t all have Autism (some do), they need a lot of assistance feeding and toileting plus behavioral intervention and those who do put a mask on don’t do it correctly (one likes to gather the top and bottom of his mask together and chew on it) so I totally understand the increased exposure in more significantly involved classes.
I can’t imagine 18 people in a room like ours! I only have 5 kids (seems like more at times!) and 3-4 staff not including the occasional or/pt/speech. Same with us regarding the doors. When admin mentions feet in social distance, we remind them we’re at inches not feet. Many skills are hand over hand or their iep says within arm’s reach for safety. Love my job but it’s definitely a stressful time.
If you are positive the moral thing to do is to Quarantine, for the safety of others.
Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you said you probably were? I guess I would change my response- the right thing to do is get tested if you suspect at all!?
Nope our district is using sick days for all staff. If aides run out then they don't get paid for the days they miss, just like teaching staff. If a teacher runs out and misses for covid they get "deduct days" off their paychecks/salary.
