my answer is nowhere as efficient as other people's answers. My brute Force answer gets the job done, but much slower than other methods that I would have never thought of or contained shortcuts that I didn't even know existed. It depends. Do you want to solve it fast, overnight, because you want to be a star data consultant in McKinsey? Or do you want to put it in production, in a facebook data science role? Both ways have their merits, but either way would need you to write decent, shareable code. So... who do you want to be, let that lead your style.

Focus less on your coding ability and more on building your project portfolio. I also am self taught and there is not better way to learn than working on real would data. You are already an analyst so use the data you already have and build some forecast, LTV model, churn prediction etc. Quality code will come as you progress. To answer your question, how you approach a problem is much more important than how efficient or proper your code is. (This assumes you are pursing a DS career in advertising agencies)

I woke up at 4 am cause fly day and I’m still at work with a few more hours to go. Meanwhile, my bf woke up at 8am, went to work at 8:30am and got back home by 5:30pm. I’m starting to hate consulting.
