I’m an entrepreneur and been mainly involved in local small-market businesses for the past two decades.

I’m looking to transition into a position with a company that is involved with larger markets and bigger projects—something that that has a larger scale than my past projects.

At what point does “ego” stop mattering? Over the past 5 years I’ve worked my way to being an Account Manager, but ultimately my career goal is to work for the government. There’s an opportunity to be an admin assistant working for the government, and would be a nice way for me to get in and move up. But the title change from Account Manager to Assistant is a big deterrent. Logically I know that it doesn’t matter, but emotionally it’s hard to feel like I am taking a major career step back?
