I had a job interview at Exxon Mobil as a financial analyst, but didn't get the job because I couldn't highlight my skill set to align with the job function. Maybe look into something supplementary such as a new skill to learn to help. If I were to go back I would have applied for a Tax Analyst role at Exxon and pivot once I was there.
Interesting - I never thought of pivoting once inside industry.
Check out KPMG Ignition. We have a tax focused team that specifically does tax d&a. Personally enjoy it and can chat more if you want. For the record I have more of a tech background and have learned tax over time.
I got an undergrad in supply chain and information systems. But we just look for folks who are curious about data and can think that way. If you understand databases and how data moves, you’ll be very successful here.
Rising Star
The CMA will help you build the skill sets needed for FP&A. It’s much, much different than tax. My spouse works in FP&A for an SP500 company and i can confirm that the skills are not transferable.
