I'm applying for a rehab aide job at an outpatient orthopedic clinic. I have two years experience at another outpatient clinic (athletico) and I have a bachelor degree in Rehabilitation sciences. Min wage is 15 from where I'm at. How much should I ask for at this new job? I was hoping 18-20. Is that reasonable?

Easily. Looks like some places are paying around $25/hr. Might depend on your geo location, though.

like

Oh you could easily ask for more in Chicago. The cost of living there is hire. I think I might ask for more like $22.

like

Easily fair especially for your area. I wouldn't be afraid to ask for over 20 either, but 18-20 is certainly a reasonable place to land.

like

I think you could even ask for a bit more, maybe about $23-$25. If you go higher, they'll probably offer a bit lower than your ask, so don't lowball yourself!

like

18-20 is very reasonable considering you have a 4 year degree and 2 years experience. However they will likely offer you on your low end so maybe 20-22 is a better range for you without being so high it offends.

like

Agreed, I think this is a really good approach but you're aiming way too low otherwise

So, with the looming recession, what kind of questions do you ask to help evaluate the stability of a company and the role you’re interviewing for within said company?

Tip for folks unsure about the black hole that is USAJobs:

USAJ now shows the number of applicants for a position you've applied for after the posting has closed. For example, my sister applied for a program manager position at NASA that had 465 applicants. She also applied to a position at a small agency that had 53 applicants.

There's more that goes into actually getting interviewed (vets pref, direct hire, etc), but now you can at least see how many people you're competing against!

Can you please explain how referrals work? At IBM we have a referrals program where you basically get a reward $ if the person you refer is chosen. But why are people in this community giving referrals to people they don't know. I've read posts that explain basically a better way to get in and have contact with a human in the recruiting process (in IBM they still submit their resume in the system and just mention you). If any kind of artificial intelligence is used, wouldn't it still be used?

Hi everyone, I just finished my masters degree a few weeks ago, and I’m looking for a new role. I obtained a bachelors degree in 2011 however that school closed and did not share records with WV higher education comission, neither are they at student clearinghouse. The school was accredited, during my time then lost accreditation a year after. (Mountain State University). Can anyone recommend how to handle this with HR if they can’t verify one of my degrees?
