Mid level Electrical Engineer in the greater Baltimore, MD area making $115k base w/ $20k sign on bonus. No yearly bonus. I started this job in April of this year. 2-3 years experience. When I onboarded they told me to expect promotion to EE III in about a year. Performance reviews coming at the end of the this year and I’m wondering 1) if my salary is on par with what I should expect 2) how to approach conversations about raises and promotion with my supervisor. I’m making 83k in healthcare, live in DC, and in my early 30s- so I’m hoping to not get low balled like younger entry level folks with less responsibilities might.

Would you ever take a class haircut to lateral to what is considered a “worse” firm (but a firm that is better known in your practice area)? I’d be slightly shifting practice groups (which is why the haircut was mentioned. If so, would you ask for some massive bonus?

any insight into how a pmm skillset is different from a brand strategist one? of course the pmm applies insights to and influences the product, but it seems like a lot of the core elements - research, understanding the user, generating insights, developing messaging and angles to speak to them, etc are super similar. interested in transitioning and I want to understand where my gaps are!
