I’m at a smaller company working as a project manager. I’ve been in the role since 2018. Before that I was a design engineer. I just interviewed for a larger company and I’m pretty confident I’m going to be getting an offer. What are realistic figures I should be negotiating for a salary. This will be in the metro Detroit area if that makes a difference. It’s also in the auto industry.

I assume 100k - 140k. Depends on a lot of things. Company size, etc

Just ask them the range they’re offering. If the range works for you, pick a number in it. If you want more, ask for it.

A grandparent of mine worked for Ford Motor Company in that area a while back

I think it depens on the city of course, but I think you could easily go for a 100k depending on your experience. What are you making at the moment and what's your YOE?

8 years. Comp right now is $120,000

I recently took up a Customer Success Manger role at a engineering software company. Previously I was a Project Manager at the same company but wanted to move out of my engineering services role. I primarily took this role hoping to get exposure to providing SaaS services as company is transitioning at software cloud. My long term goal is to move into tech as my current customers are mostly in O&G. Is customer success a good entry point go get into one for the big tech companies?

I’ve been a management consultant for 3.5 yrs. I’ve done 18 months of internal sustainability work such as building our sustainability practice, initiatives to get B CORP, SBTI, tracked carbon emissions, company campaigns for sustainability awareness, sustainability strategy. I want to move into a sustainability consulting role. Which area of sustainability consulting should I look at? Are there any courses or certifications I should do?

I felt that I bombed an interview, they told me that they will let me know by last week, but I haven’t heard back, thought I was silently rejected, then all of a sudden recruiter reached out saying that they are wrapping up interviews and will let me know by this week. Any hope?

My cleaning lady now drives to our apartment and finds street parking. She got a ticket last week for not seeing the signs. I suggested to her if the signs weren’t clear she could contest it. I’m struggling here - should I pay for the ticket? On one level, she has worked with us for a long time, but I also don’t think it’s necessarily my responsibility. I give her a nice bonus and raise each year. Do I pay it once as a good will gesture? She has other clients too that she drives too.

There’s a hotel right across the street that’s $150 per night.. it’s alright, but not as great. Should I be mindful about how much I’m spending or should I blow up the budget until someone says something?

👉Just ask for it. Really, you would be surprised. Might be easier to switch to a new company and ask. I did that 3 years into my career.

1st Job - 90k…. Is this a good salary? Late to the game at 34. Don’t even know anything about personal finance. Basically feeling like an 18 year old over here with no knowledge of how to run my own life. Having to start over after long term controlling relationship where I was left out of all the finance stuff. So I’m lost TBH. Engineering makes sense, managing my money not so much.
