I’m bad at interviewing bc I can’t look at charts and come up with insights on the spot (it takes me a few minutes to process). But that doesn’t mean I’m bad at critical thinking. I feel like the interview process for MBB is flawed

But often times you have to come up with insights or recommendations on the fly in front of clients - that’s why we want you to do it in the interview process

like

Yeah but I’m not hiring you based on your ability to dodge questions, that’s a last resort in real life so I certainly am not prioritizing it in interviews

Why not just learn the 12 types of charts then you’ll know where to look every time?

No probs

Not that there's anything wrong with not being able to draw insights, but the reason why the process is so flawed is cause they can be. There are so many people applying for these jobs, and being able to get rid of people even if they potentially are better in other ways is a casualty of that fact.

I wouldn't say it keeps out every bad apple, but it definitely reduces the risk of a bad apple being able to join

I can do your interview for you.
