Flex arrangement may require less adjustment for your baby (going from being cared by you to a nanny then to a daycare in a short time frame). But sounds like it could potentially put a lot of stress on you

I would look into if your work has any type of back up care options. KPMG gives you an allotment of days a year that you can use to have someone come to your house and it’s a very reduced rate. Those days combined with a reduced schedule would get you through the 2 months. As someone that had a 1 year old during COVID and all daycare options closed, splitting childcare and work is incredibly exhausting. And an infant will be that much more challenging to juggle both. Good luck! Welcome to working parenthood!

Oh, great idea. I’ll look into that, thank you!!

I would say a flex arrangement as long as your team and your husband are on the same page would be doable with an infant. You just have to stick with it and work during odd hours of the day. Speaking from experience my daughter was home during covid from 8 months to just recently 2 years. It wasn’t easy but I had both my husband and my team on the same page and worked during her schedule

I would have my calendar as updated as possible with the times I was on. I also had my husband take the afternoon shift and I took the morning shift so that I could get some hours in the morning uninterrupted. If something was super urgent I would let my manager know that I would need help with it. My clients are okay as long I respond to them within 24 hours and most of the time my response times were closer to 4-12 hours. I tried doing set hours but most days it was the times I could fit in and I did keep my calendar as updated as possible though to make sure if someone was looking for me they would know

Either one might work. You need to do a cost analysis. You can also try looking into home daycares around you, sometimes they have openings (but infant care is so hard to get - I always reserved my kids spots at least 9-12 months in advance).

I had a place reserved 9 months ago but I just found out we were moving recently, unplanned so no such luck!

Can you extend your leave / take additional time off?

It would be unpaid. Which would be doing but not desirable lol
